The duo flew to New York to bring in the New Year but returned separately.

A midst the talks of their impending marriage comes the shocking news that Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor are no longer together.

After finally making appearances together at Amitabh Bachchan's Diwali party and last month at the special screening of The Wolf Of Wall Street, everyone naturally assumed that the two were finally ready to take the next step and walk down the aisle together. But unfortunately, the relationship has ended.

Katrina is heartbroken. It was Ranbir who wanted out. No one really knows the reason. Common friends say their equation changed after Ranbir's super success last year.

Says a source, "While Kat is at that stage in her career where she is ready for marriage, RK feels that it could damage his soaring success. The duo flew to New York to bring in the New Year but returned separately. There were reports that the actress had decided to stay back because she was unwell but it is now learnt that the couple had a fight in NY when Katrina brought up marriage and the Kapoor boy said he wasn't ready and needed to focus on his career."

Another relationship sacrificed for a career
The source says, "Sadly Katrina herself doesn't know where they are headed today... She still loves him but Ranbir has told his friends that they have broken up. Both are giving each other some space at the moment."

The days following a break-up are crucial. Sometimes the couple realise their mistake and get back together. At other times, they simply let go and move on with their lives. Kat and Ranbir have gotten together in the past. But it looks like this time the break-up is forever.
