Well...Lets think this out a bit...
technically Varun is definitely the better actor as far as I've seen the both of them...
Sid is taller and better looking...
At this point, all I can say is it can turn out to be a scenario of Ranbir and Imran... They both debuted around the same time, but Ranbir is now considered one of the top actors whereas Imran is at rock bottom with his career yet Imran is better looking than Ranbir...
So, at this point, it can be anyone's game... Varun knows how to hold his own and has a great screen presence in comparison to the better looking Siddharth. And as far as I've seen Sid in Hasee Toh Phasee, he looks the best he has ever looked in the movie but some of his dialogue delivery is very weak and not great... Hopefully he will learn more along the way and he definitely gets alot more attention on this forum compared to Varun, but strictly TALENT and ACTING wise, Varun is better and he is also an amazing dancer...
I like Sid offscreen more because of is shyness and all but Varun has the talent package onsceen... When STOY came out, people praised Varun's performance the most and I don't think that anyone can deny the fact that out of that crappy movie, Varun's performance was the best amongst the 3 newbies (Alia, Sid and Varun)... All people talk about Sid is his good looks... Ultimately, his looks will only get him so far to an extent, after that, talent will sustain...
BUT, at this point, I think both of them are overrated because they haven't proved anything or aren't all that yet... They need a few more movies and performances and years to really be given a verdict... I mean, in the beginning, Ranbir had disasters like Saawariya and Bachna Ae Haseeno... But came out a winner compared to his co-mate Imraan who had an amazing start with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and had the look factor...
My bet is that Varun will sustain further... I don't really like him offscreen with his loud and OTTness but hey, I don't like Ranbir offsreen either but I can't deny that he is a great actor and kills it onscreen no matter what role he has done so far
