Rudra tries logic with the Birpur residents ... why have none of your daughters ever come back home? For any festival, any mourning, any celebration ...
But the villagers are silent ... their Thakur is their God, and if he says sacrifice, sacrifice it is ... even of their own daughters ...
It seemed to me that Paro was the only one registering his words, absorbing them ... maybe filing them away in her mind ... will the truth of his words strike her later?

Face off between the Thakur and Rudra ... zinging one liners between the ice cold serpent and the raging young officer ... Thakur warns Rudra ...'make sure your blood does not boil so much that your dimaag evaporates in the steam and disappears.' Good warning, actually ... 😛 and very good scene! 👏

And the Thakur disowns Paro with a sweet tongued blessing ... 'be brave, be strong ...' not before Rudra blocks his way to Paro ... protective already? 😳

Rudra is already ambivalent about Paro ... his disgust and disbelief at how the villagers can abandon her at a word from the Thakur ... the abandonment both disgusts and infuriates him ... he can't believe that Maamisa can disown her own adopted daughter, can forget ties of blood. He's trying hard not to show any softness, but the harsh exterior hides something very different.

Aman's entry was rather good today ... Thakur forced onto the back foot. For once Rudra had brought reinforcements.

But Rudra has to retreat, and he takes Paro with him ... she breaks free and runs to Maamisa pleading for help, she's scared, she doesn't want to go with them ... Maamisa stays unmoved, and finally pushes her away ... 'I don't know you ...'

And Paro breaks ... the last straw, the final blow in a day that has been full of them ... Paro is shattered and goes without protest or fight with Rudra, her eyes dead ... her world as she knows it, is gone ... her life as she knew it, is over ...

And yet she won't sign the paper for Rudra ... much to his fury ... her eyes empty, dead, as though his words, his anger, his bruising hold, none of it even registers, much less hurts ... for nothing holds the power to hurt her any more ... she is dead from within. A pawn in the battle between two men, abandoned by all her near and dear ones, by her village, her family, her world ... the living dead ... the emptiness in her eyes shows her hopelessness ...

Acting honors shared equally by the three leads ... hero, heroine and villain ... Tarun Khanna was fabulous as the silver tongued smiling serpent, and his dialogues were superb! Rudra held his own in the face off ... very commendable, the scene was fab.
And Sanaya was fabulous in the last part, when Paro pleads with Maamisa, is rejected, and then follows Rudra without protest or fight ... her eyes dead ... all the fight, the spirit, even the fear gone ...

Yet another fantastic episode. Loved the play of emotions on Paro's face as she registers everything that Rudra is hurling at the villagers. 17 weddings, not one bride has come back or kept in touch. She does not react but it seems like she is filing it away to process later.
Gut wrenching as she gives in to what fate is throwing at her and holds up her hands to be handcuffed. Defeat, resignation and a sense of abject misery.

Rudra was good as he exhorts the villagers to own up. Overall, loved the epi. Can't wait for next week.

Thanks for commenting! Yep, Paro did register what Rudra was saying about the weddings and the missing girls ... when the immediate grief and shock has passed, I think she will remember it when Rudra tries to convince her about Tejawat's misdeeds. Very interesting play of expressions across her face ...
Her abandonment was again heart breaking today ... especially when Maami rejected her and pushed her away ... Paro just seemed to die a little there and then ... after that, her eyes were dead, blank ... Sanaya is such a good actress!!!

Loved the Rudra-Tejawat scene too ... both are fine actors, the dialogues were very good in that scene too.

Superb post Dia 😃
What a trio!! Have been a fan of Tarun Khanna for some time now and am so happy to see him performing well in this new role as well...and of course, both Sanaya and Ashish are just spectacular in expressions.

Ashish has so much subtlety in his dialogue delivery and expressions - he nails the right emotions without going OTT..simply love it.

Sanaya ke toh kya kehne! She has proven again and again how good she in emotional scenes - she makes you cry for Paro with her portrayal of devastation, vulnerability and despair.

Simply superb 👏

Great post Diya. I was happy to see my three favorite rule the screens; Sanaya, Ashish and Tarun. They did a commendable job in portraying their characters, be it the raged officer, cunning Royalty, and the devastated and bewildered girl. I was very upset to see Paro get disowned by her own people. Rudra is right in asking why the brides never returned and why the people never bothered to contact them after their weddings. Did they feel that all will be well as Tejawat got them wedded? How can they naively trust a man and disown their children for his one word. Poor Paro pleaded her aunt to take her back and yet her aunt had to turn her heart to stone to let go of her girl. She watched how badly Rudra treated Paro and she was well aware of how much the girl was terrified. Did she not realize that Paro has already lost too much and she doesn't have the strength to lose more. Paro of Birpur has died today as she ceased to exist for her people. She has accepted her fate to be with the BSDs as she has no where to go, no one to hide behind. She's going to stop feeling emotions and toughen up as she's already at her vulnerable worst. There is nothing left for Paro to lose. I just hope Rudra is there to help protect Paro, he's the only one she has got whether she likes it or not.

Lovely take Diya
Another brutal episode for everyone especially Paro -
In olden days before prisons and laws etc the way they punished criminals was to stop communicating with them - they ostracised them but cutting off all contact and cooperation with them so they would die a lonely death as a punishment - (I am now thankful for prisons in a strange way)
This punishment may well still exist in some tribal cultures - I felt sad when I read about it

When this happened with Paro today I was reminded of this fact- the village and her own family decreed their on own death sentence on her and she had done nothing wrong - she stopped caring about her own life at that point too as Paro the Birpur village belle was dead

Sanaya of course aced the acting here - she conveyed this scene to perfection and my heart bled for her

The confrontation between Rudra and Tejawat was very powerful the chess game laid bare - who will win the smooth talking Teflon villain or the raging bull major with an aching heart

Take a bow Sanaya, Ashish and Tarun - now that's what I call acting!
