"Supernatural" stars Jensen Ackles
and Jared Padalecki attended the
2014 Critics' Choice Awards on
Thursday (Jan. 16) as hosts. Before
the show, however, they had an
amusing interview on the red carpet.
From their feelings about the weather
(too hot) to their hopes to keep
"Supernatural" going if they can "find
an audience somewhere," the
Winchester boys had plenty to say.
The weather couldn't be avoided, not
when the actors had just flown in
from cold and wet Vancouver to hot
and dry Los Angeles. "When we took
off, I was in a jacket and a scarf and
a hat," Padalecki explains, while
Ackles joins in to point out, "We're
sweating now; this is ridiculous."
Despite the heat, both actors seemed
excited to be there. Padalecki, in
particular, was looking forward to
reconnecting with an old friend. "I'm
excited to see Aisha [Tyler] , I haven't
seen her in a little bit," he says. "I
haven't seen her since Comic-Con.
Can't wait to give her a big hug."
Finally, talk turned to "Supernatural,"
where Ackles and Padalecki both
seemed thrilled at the show's
longevity. "From the very beginning,
Erik Kripke created a story and
characters that resonated with
people and if we want continue to do
that, we'll find an audience
anywhere," Ackles says. Could the
show last forever, then?
Padalecki adds that the passion of
the "Supernatural" fans was a big
deal too. "We're helped by the
general social media movement," he
says. "We may not have as many
viewers as 'American Idol,' but our
fans are very passionate and vocal."
