Setting a New Standard

Hi Everyone!

Now, I'm not going to claim to be a Indian Telly Expert, but I've seen my fair bit of Indian Dramas; less now but more so in the past when I wasn't in University.
I have to say this much: JUST WOW. Rangrasiya is totally a cut above the rest that I've seen for different reasons:

- THE DIRECTION!. Completely cinematic, less dramatic. The quality in the episodes I've seen thus far is ASTOUNDING. None of that freezing into 6 different people's faces, swiping in and out seven different times, coupled in with numerous fade outs on the same characters for "dramatic" "impact". Instead, it's all about the RIGHT angle, and the RIGHT lighting.

- THE MUSIC! Simply amazing thus far, appropriate songs at the appropriate time, without stealing the scene, but rather complimenting it, completely translates into the mood- I understand that original scores aren't possible for everything- the expense alone would be huge- but the choices are so subtle and great that it's almost like it IS a customized score for the show LOL!

- THE ACTING! By GOD THE ACTING! I've never watched Saniya or Ashish's shows, but holy.cow. It's amazing. Simply mind blowing. Nothing is over done, or "dramatic" or unbelievable. The EXPRESSIONS! So REAL! The emotions are off the charts! I'm not saying other telly stars can't act, but I think the way these Characters are written: To be understated and not Overbearing (Hell, can anyone recall KZK?- Loved that show, but some Characters were TOO over the top and dramatic).

- THE ACTION!Yes, for the most part Indian Drama's have either a key romantic story line or a sub plot with romance, and Rangrasiya is no different- however I love the other aspect of it which not all shows can pull off: ACTION! REALISTIC ACTION! Love how Rudra didn't go all Salman Khan on us all (not that there's anything wrong with being "Dabaang" - it's just not REALISTIC). Amazing choreography of the action sequences, coupled in with the direction and acting with the music score thus far: Fantastic.

The Tellywood Industry in India is huge, regardless of the quality of shows- that's just how it is- but the fact that Shows like Rangrasiya are moving BEYOND the cliche composition and production is AMAZING! Completely setting a new standard!

I don't think I'm alone in thinking this, anyone else notice any nuances about the show thus far?

😆 Fair enough.

Just to give an example of how awesome this show is: My dad is the BIGGEST Indian Drama hater. He's always giving side commentary about "That's stupid"; "That doesn't happen"; "You just watched 15 minutes of them zooming in and out of people's faces".

Last night (RR comes on here at 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM) I was watching and he was sitting in the living room, my dad was actually SILENT as he watched the show with me LOL.

I'm telling you, if there's no insulting commentary from my father, the show MUST be great LOL!

I don't watch much desi serials, mostly because all of them have that quality of over the top, unrealistic feel to them. There's a lot of dramatic camera cutting from one person to the next, which seems to take up most of the show, and then there is the lack of direction which makes shows feel forced.

There are a few exceptions, shows which aren't tiresome to watch and RR is def one of them for me. I think the grandeur feel to the show comes from the fact that we have top notch directions and acting, which gives it the feel of a nicely made movie.

I hope the quality can be maintained.

And yes, I am also loving the acting chops of the cast. Sanaya has found fame and recognition for her acting already but I'm hoping this is Ashish's ticket into stardom because he really is doing a great job.

First, welcome to the forum. What a well written analysis and I can't agree more. The entire team of Rangrasiya deserve appreciation for the kind of product they are delivering. They are pushing certain boundaries with thus venture, so more power to them.
This show is very lucky to get two superb actors such as Sanaya and Ashish as leads, and hope their work will get them recognition and accolades in the coming year. Hoping for a successful run for this show.

Bold- I wish the same for Ashish, but I hope at least this time both get accolades for their acting too, Sanaya is yet to get an acting award and I am presuming it is the same for Ashish.

Oh yes-I'm hoping this show brings them both awards. I think Sanaya has gone unrecognized in these past couple years and I assumed it's because her character wasn't taken seriously because of the comedian-like feel to it. But with the way this story and characters are written, and the way they are acting, I hope they get some recognition.

With time, the show has the potential to be the next big thing.
