Nahin sukhi yaar ...in some areas of rajasthan , haryana and even UP ...women still don't go in baraat. My mum is from UP ...we don't follow all this as we live in delhi ...but in my nani's place , even now very few women go in the baraat..

i knew such things existed cz i have read about as well as watched too many Indian stuff.. just never experienced them myself..

another way to look at it is, those people don't even realize how much is taken from them even in every day life, isn't it?

I suppose this keeps the genetic pool nicely varied 😛


very true! its better than getting cousins married which leads to genetic disasters at least! so there r some rituals. traditions that are based on science.. 😳

I asked my sister the same question and she told me that traditional places have women waiting at home to welcome the newly weds. They do not attend the wedding ceremony.
