I am confused arent zain and aliya first cousins?Then the are brother and sister arent they.Even in one scene aliya's mom says tumhare zain bhaijaan ki photo.I am confused

Yes, they're first cousins in the show. And in Muslim culture it's not uncommon for cousins to get married, which is what Zain and Aliya are most likely going to do.

Elder cousins are usually called Bhaijaan and Baji by younger cousins or siblings.

And they are not destined to marry each other from childhood, so they are usually brother and sister unless the marriage question pops up... 😳😳

Islamically, they can get married.

The men Aaliya can NOT marry are (Islamically):

Her Uncles,

Her Brothers

Her nephews

Half-brothers

Her Father -in-law

Her Son-in-law

and her stepfather.

All the above class as something called 'MAHRAMS' and mahrams are the only people Aaliya can not marry.

Zain is not Aaliya's Mahram hence she can get married to him.

yep...to add to it... the first two, it means REAL brother and REAL uncle (as in mum/dad's real bro) u cant marry these... but u are allowed 2 marry cousins...its quite common 2...

Agreed, basically you can't marry any man in the immediate family. Like you said Mom and Dad's siblings, but anyone else that is once removed is allowed.

Yes U can marry in cousins and also with distant uncles and aunts like Bibi Fatima(Radi'allah anha) married Hazrat Ali(karam allah anhu) who was her uncle, her father's cousin.
so its legitimate for Muslims.
