even in many south indian cultures , marriage is acceptable between kids of brother and sister .. but not kids of brothers as main blood line cant be mixed ..

In Islam Other Than Father Brother Grandfathers, And Uncles, You Can Marry Anyone, Even Your First Cousins.

but if since childhood you have thought of your cousin as brother/sister and called hin/her a brother/sister is it rt to marry. im a muslim n in my family one side of parents wanted to maary their son to his cousin but grandparents refused coz they have always treated each other like bro n sis. also wont it be too uncomfortable marrying sum1 you have called bhaiiya or bhaijaan since childhood. i think its about the thinking & feeling which is there between the cousins

it totally depends on how you feel towards your cousins
...normally in Muslim families we prefer to marry long distanced cousins who we dont know ,coz marrying first cousins is way too awkward...

That can be debated and I think it varries from family to family. Some people who prefer marriages between cousins who are closer because of trust. Someone you've seen for a longer time and have a good relationship you tend to trust more and have more assurance of your child's' well being post marriage. Whereas marrying a distant relative, a lot could be unknown and could be more harmful. But I think it's a personal preference.
