Salim was son of akbar and heera/muz only.
And regarding his rapport with his mother i think there are a lot of WRONG theories circulating. He shared an excellent rapport with his mother and respected her a lot.
And for being a drunkard, which mughal ruler did not drink?..leaving aurangzeb..for a while.?...afterall drinking was a 'virtue' of that age. So what's wrong in it..
Have a thought, just suni sunai batoon se do not try to conclude nature of historical personality.
Do not try to belittle salim. read about his reforms. He was not great as his father but he also had a lot of positive reforms to his credit. Try to look at the positive aspects too. It is not that nur jahan ran the administration herself. He also worked for 16-17 hours, and this point was ALSO mentioned in an old thread of the topicmaker. He too worked hard.
And, he was not a as heavy drinker as his brothers, otherwise he would have met the same fate as his brothers soon. Also read about humayun if there is a question on salim here.
Regarding revolt with akbar, he revolted. But he still, did not face his relatives when they came out for war and he retraced back. Had he been a person who wanted only a throne ? And if was without any feelings he cud have fought back. Afterall the entire arsenal in the garisson of allahabad fort was in his hands and he had the support of most powerful nobles.
For those, who retrace history by mughal-e-azam movie. continue. Carry on the dreams.
Atleast he was better then shah jahan, the so called 'kind king' among the mughals.
Did not understand why the question of his upbringing..??
Is there some point to be proved?..anyways...
BTW, there was no fault of kunti if her son karna sided wid kauravas?? Or not a fault of gandhari for what all duryodhan did.?..?...apart from the genes, the environment also plays a role in shaping the nature.
Salim was not like akbar but he was far far better then shah jahan and aurangzeb and to an extent even humayun.
Every person has his share of virtue and vices. No one is perfect. Even our great emperor akbar did commit some mistakes, which is a human nature.
It just that history ne kisi ko badnaam kar dia aur kisi ko cloud nine par chadha dia.
Also, try finding about jahanara begum and roshanara begum as well, if there is a question on salim's nature or on a daughter of akbar.
Thank you to TM, for giving this thread. Keep up the good work.
:)
BTW...
Another clarification...
It was mainly salima and hamida who played a major part in reconciliation between salim and akbar.
This is from akbarnama.
There is not A TRACE of RUQU's name there. Plz do not recreate history again, after searching internet.!!!!..
Again this does not means heera had no say in this conciliation. I ll say just read the chronicles to get it cleared yourself.
Thanx.
