Not knowing the actual story from the Vedas or Purunas of Mahananda, I don't know where the idea of consummating with Lord Shiva came from. In that context, Lord Shiva didn't even consummate with Parvati. They merged the energies of the hearts and lifestreams to procreate. This was depicted in the show. When a chela is initiated at a certain degree by the Guru, there is an energy transfer from the Guru; and an essence of the Guru can be given to the initiate. Perhaps someone in their human consciousness used the word 'consummate' in the wrong way. What was the word used in Sanskrit?I was once told by a Hindu Guru that "the greatest relationship is the relationship between Guru and Chela." In the context of the Teaching, this relationship was being compared to a Twin Flame relationship such as Shiva/Parvati or Vishnu/Lakshmi. The reason this was being given as the example of the greatest relationship is because it is one of deepest dedication, devotion, obedience and love - by free will choice. I believe somewhere in this Forum there is a discussion about the relationship of Mahadev and Nandi and the topic in question was "Who does Mahadev love more, Sati or Nandi?" There were some who answered he loves them the same...The story of Mahananda and Lord Shiva is probably very profound. She passed the initiation to the nth degree and was probably given some essence of the God - although most probably not by physical consummation as we understand that. And in truth, it is the goal of every devotee to merge with the God of his/her devotion - however this is not physical consummation.
