Angry Jaya Bachchan refuses to pose; Karan Johar lightens the mood with a witty remark

Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan and filmmaker Karan Johar were among the guests at The Honours hosted by The Hollywood Reporter India in Mumbai. A brief exchange between the two outside the venue has now caught attention online.

As Karan greeted Jaya, he gave her a warm hug. Photographers gathered around them, requesting a joint pose. The two, however, stayed engrossed in conversation. In a lighter moment, Karan told her, “From Gen-Z to paparazzi, everybody is obsessed with you.” Jaya responded with a smile.

After a short chat, Karan hugged her again while she gently caressed his cheek. As he began walking away, he turned to the photographers and said, “Mere wajah se mila photo (You got photos because of me).” He then repeated the line to Jaya, adding, “I just told them. I said, ‘Mere wajah se mila photo (You got photos because of me)’.” Jaya reacted with a playful expression as those around them laughed.

In another clip from the evening, Jaya was seen speaking with friends while photographers continued to call out to her. She did not initially respond. As a few camerapersons moved closer, she gestured for them to step back and said “enough” several times.

This is not the first time she has addressed members of the media directly. Last year, at the prayer meet of late filmmaker Rono Mukherjee, she appeared uncomfortable with the crowding. Walking alongside his son Samrat Mukherjee, she asked in Bengali, “Eder kano daako (Why do you ask them to come)?” He replied, “Aami daakini (I didn't call them).”

At another public appearance with her daughter Shweta Bachchan, she told photographers, “Chaliye aap log bhi saath mein. Aajaiyye (Come with us. Do come).” She later murmured, “Bakwas sab, gande gande se sab (Nonsense).”

Jaya was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar and featuring an ensemble cast.
