'Mere bhai jaisa hai': Subhash Ghai prays for Salim Khan after hospitalisation

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after suffering a minor brain haemorrhage. The 90 year old writer is currently stable and under observation in the intensive care unit. Doctors have placed him on ventilator support as a precaution.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai expressed concern and offered prayers for his recovery. Speaking to ANI, he said, "Salim sahib mere bhai ki tarah hai aaj se nahi 30-40 saal se. Salman to baad mein aaya jisne meri picture mein kaam kiya. Sabse pehle Salim sahib the jinki mai nahi puri industry izzat karti hai aur unke liye prathna karti hai ki unki sehat achi rahe aur dirghayi ho kyunki vo bahut hi ache insaan hai."

On Wednesday, Dr Jalil Parkar, who is part of the treating team, shared an update with the media. “There was minimal brain haemorrhage. A small procedure was done this morning and it was accomplished. He is fine and stable but is still on a ventilator. By tomorrow, hopefully, we will take him off the ventilator. All in all, he’s doing quite well. Keeping his age in mind, the recovery time is longer.”

Family members were seen at the hospital soon after his admission. Actor Salman Khan arrived at the facility shortly after being informed.

Salim began his journey in cinema with minor acting roles before moving to writing. His partnership with Javed Akhtar changed mainstream Hindi film writing in the 1970s and 80s. Together, they delivered films such as Zanjeer, Deewar and Don, which shaped the screen image of Amitabh Bachchan as the angry young man.

After parting ways with Akhtar, Salim continued to write films including Angaaray, Naam, Kabzaa and Jurm. For now, doctors say his condition is stable, with further decisions expected once ventilator support is reduced. The family has requested privacy during this period.
