The two actors, who reportedly began dating over seven years ago, got engaged in a quiet, low-key ceremony at Vijay's Hyderabad residence on October 3, 2025. No photographs were shared by either side, keeping fans and the media largely in the dark — that is, until a leaked wedding invite sent the internet into a frenzy.

The invite, which went viral approximately ten days before the ceremony, bore Vijay's own words: "With the love and blessings of our families, Rashmika and I will be getting married on February 26 in a small and intimate ceremony."
