The Internal Love We Share

I wrote a One Shot Deepavali Special for Office. The setting and context are all the same like Office. Hope you like it and feedback most welcome!

*Part 1*

Karthik and Vishnu came out the elevator together. Both were dressed in vesthi and white shirt. Vishnu looked around at the decorations.

"Wow, enna machan namma office is looking like this today...I never expected it to be this decorated."

Karthik looked at Vishnu "It's all just for one day, next week everything will be back to normal and we will be back to normal working for them."

"But still, I'm impressed, never thought it would be like this...not bad we picked a good job after all..." Vishnu said jokingly.

Karthik and Vishnu went to their desks and saw Lakshmi approaching them. She was dressed in a purple and yellow saree.

"Hi Lakshmi!" Vishnu called out waving at her.

"Hi Vishnu, Hi Karthik. Happy Deepavali!"

"Thanks Lakshmi, same to you." Karthik said.

"Lakshmi Lakshmi." Vishnu called out.

"Enna Vishnu."

"You are looking very beautiful today Lakshmi...like Sneha."

"Appriya?" Lakshmi asked in a mocking tone.

"Aama Lakshmi, in this saree you look very pretty. Appriye...can we take a photo together?"

Lakshmi laughed. "Look at you over praising today. Seri come, let's take one together."

Vishnu took his phone from his pocket

Karthik called out "Do you want me to take the picture Vishnu?"

"Athu onum theveilai, we will manage." Vishnu said mocking Karthik.

Karthik let out a smile knowing why Vishnu refused.

"Appo seri...Lakshmi did you see Raji? I haven't seen her yet."

"I don't know Karthik, I'm coming just now, she should be here though, last night she said she was coming early today."

That's strange; she never mentioned anything to me Karthik wondered.

"Seri, I'll go check where she is." and he left.

He went to the canteen but Raji wasn't there. He then checked the conference room on their floor and she wasn't there either. Karthik tried calling her but she wasn't picking up. He started walking back to his desk and saw Raji coming. Karthik stopped and looked amazed at her. She was wearing a beautiful pink and gold saree. Her hair was in a French braid with white flowers looped around the braid. She was looking at a file in her hand and walking at the same time.

"Raji" Karthik called out.

Raji looked up at Karthik and smiled beautifully.

"Hi Karthik, did you come just now?"

Karthik was too busy admiring Raji that he wasn't paying attention to what she was saying.

"Karthik...Karthik!" Raji called out again going closer to him.

"Huh enna Raji...sorry, what did you ask?"

"What's wrong Karthik?"

"Nothing, I was too busy looking at someone..."

"Who?" Raji asked innocently.

"At my wife." Karthik said looking at her

"Wife ah?!" Raji said in a light surprised tone.

"Sorry sorry...my future wife..." Karthik said trying to sound serious but was laughing.

Raji blushed.

"You look so beautiful today Raji."

"Really?" she asked in a soft tone.

"Yes, you are my beautiful Kovilpati angel."

Raji blushed even more.

"Okay okay..." she managed to say and went to her seat.

Karthik went to his seat and was still looking at Raji. Raji noticed at how he was still watching her.

"Enna pa, you are still looking at me..." She said turning to him.

Karthik laughed. "Athu seri, where were you, I was looking for you everywhere."

"I was talking with Vishwanathan sir."

"What did he want?"

"Nothing...he just wanted me to go over a few things for the client presentation. I need to finish these and get his approval before the end of the day."

"Enna Raji, everyone here is celebrating and you are working..." Karthik said.

"It's okay Karthik, this is my chance to prove to him that I am capable of doing everything."

Karthik looked at Raji.

"Is there anything I can do?"

"Not really, everything is on my system anyways..."

Vishnu and Lakshmi walked in and came up to Karthik and Raji.

"Hey Raji, they are calling us all to the canteen, come let's go." Lakshmi said.

Raji looked up at her friend from her desk "Yein Lakshmi?"

"It's celebration time downstairs, come let's go." Lakshmi said urging Raji.

"You guys go ahead, I'm not coming, I have to finish something."

Karthik looked at Raji while getting up. "Come Raji, you can finish it later, it won't take long..."

"Yes Raji, just come now." Vishnu said.

Raji thought for a second. "Okay, coming." She closed the file on her table and everyone went to the canteen.

In the canteen, the entire software department was gathered. Karthik, Raji, Vishnu and Lakshmi joined the crowd. Kothai saw Karthik and Raji standing beside at each other and came up to them.

"Both of you are looking very beautiful together. Perfect jodi."

Karthik and Raji looked at each then smiled at Kothai.

Susan was standing in the corner watching everything happening. She was feeling irritated seeing Karthik and Raji laughing together.

Watch what I do to both of you...

Just then David came walking in. He welcomed everyone and announced that they would first light the big lamp. Lakshmi lit one side of the lamp using a candle then gave it to Raji who lit another side. A few other girls also lit the large lamp.

David started thanking everyone for coming and began to talk a little bit about Deepavali and what Netech does annually. Everyone was standing around and listening to David. Lakshmi was standing beside Raji. A few minutes later she started noticing a strange smell. She was wondering what that smell was. Karthik, Vishnu and Raji were all listening to David as he kept his speech going.

What is that smell? Lakshmi wondered.

She turned around then noticed what it was. The bottom of Raji's saree was catching on fire!

Lakshmi gasped and screamed!

"Raji!!! Raji!!!"

Karthik and Raji turned around and saw what she was looking at.

Raji gasped as she saw the bottom of her pleated pallu lightly flaming up.

"Aaahh!!!" She screamed.

Karthik reacted fast. He grabbed Raji closer to him and took the bottom part of the pallu and shook it. He patted it with his hands being careful not to let it touch her body. Everyone looked concerned at what was going on. Vishnu brought some water and Karthik splashed it on the bottom of the saree. The light flames were immediately washed away.

Raji was shocked about what happened. She looked at the back of the pallu then at Karthik who was standing behind her. She tried to hold her tears. Lakshmi went up to Raji and hugged her.

"Are you okay Raji?"

Raji hugged her back looking at Karthik who showed concern on his face. She nodded her head. "Yeah yeah, I'm fine..." she managed to say in her quick breaths.

David went up to Raji now. "Enna Raji, you need to be careful."

"Sorry sir..."

"It's okay leave it, luckily it was a small thing and Karthik put it out right away before it spread."

Raji looked at Karthik who still seemed shocked with everything.

"Okay guys I'm going to move the lamps away so nobody else gets hurt. Everyone continue back with your work, like I said, the luncheon and celebration will happen downstairs in the large cafeteria so be sure to drop by. Happy Deepavali to everyone once again." David said before leaving.

The crowed started to disperse and everyone went back to their seats. Lakshmi took Raji's hand and signalled Karthik and Vishnu to follow her. They went upstairs to the conference room and Lakshmi made sure the blinds were closed. Few seconds later Karthik and Vishnu came inside. As soon as Raji saw Karthik she went up to him and took his arm. Karthik could sense the fear in her and he stroked her head.

"Thanks Karthik." She managed to say in a light voice.

"Vidu Raji, don't worry, everything is fine now." He said patting her head.

"Nalla vellai machan it was small or else it would have been a big problem." Vishnu said.

Karthik took Raji's hand and looked at her "I won't let anything happen to you Raji."

Raji looked up at him and smiled brushing away a tear from her cheek.

Karthik looked at the back of the saree now. Luckily it was nothing big, just a few dark spots near the bottom. Raji took the pallu and looked at it.

"Nalla velai, it's small..." She said.

"Raji, do you want to change?" Lakshmi asked.

"Aama Raji, I can get you other clothes if you want." Karthik said still holding her hand.

"Illai, it's okay, it's nothing big just a few burnt holes at the bottom, it's fine."

"Be careful Raji, don't sit on it or it might burn you." Karthik said.

"I'll be careful." She said back. "Come let's get back to work."

She opened the door and left the room, Karthik following behind her. Vishnu was about to leave too but Lakshmi stopped him.

"Vishnu...one minute."

"Enna Lakshmi."

"Vishnu, I don't think that was an accident." Lakshmi said in a serious tone.

"What are you talking about?" Vishnu asked.

"Raji's saree catching on fire...I don't think that was an accident Vishnu..."

"Who would do something like that Lakshmi?"

"I don't know...but I'm doubting Susan only...she was there while we lit the lamps..."

"So she must have done something while David was talking?" Vishnu asked.

Lakshmi nodded her head. "I think so..."

"Seri, don't tell this to Karthik or Raji yet. We don't know for sure and let's not get them worried." Vishnu said.

"Yes you're right."

Vishnu opened the door for Lakshmi and let her pass before he left the room.

*Part 2*

It was the afternoon and Karthik, Vishnu and Raji were at their desks. Raji was looking through a file and writing things down while Karthik and Vishnu were typing up letters and printing them up. Karthik went to the large printer and picked up the papers.

"Okay machan, let's go show this to Vishwanathan so he can approve it." Karthik called out to Vishnu.

"Seri da."

Karthik turned at Raji who was busy working away.

"Raji?"

"Enna Karthik?" She said without looking up from her computer.

"You didn't eat yet, why don't you go and eat."

"I will...soon...I just need to finish this." She said while typing.

Karthik went over to Raji's desk. "Raji finish it later you first go and eat."

Raji stopped doing her work then got up taking her bag. "Ok ok...I'm going..."

Karthik and Vishnu left to see Vishwanathan with their papers. Raji was ready to leave but hurried back to her spot after Karthik left and continued working.

Hopefully they don't return soon...Sorry Karthik. She thought.

*Part 3*

It was 6 pm and Vishnu shut off his computer. Lakshmi came over with her bag ready to leave.

"Ok guys remember tomorrow Deepavali celebrations at my place, everyone better be there."

"Don't worry Lakshmi, I will come early in the morning." Vishnu joked.

"Knowing you Vishnu you would." She said laughing. "Hey Raji, you are coming right?"

"Of course Lakshmi, I'm coming." She said looking at her.

"Ok then...I'm leaving, I'll see everyone tomorrow...bye."

"Lakshmi hold on, I'll come with you." Vishnu called out. "Ok bye machan, bye Raji."

"Bye." Karthik and Raji said.

Vishnu and Lakshmi left together and Karthik looked at Raji.

"Raji, are you done, let's go. I will drop you off today."

Raji looked at Karthik. "Illai karthik, you go ahead. I need to fax something first."

"Seri, it's okay I'll wait for you."

"Are you sure, just go I'll see you tomorrow right."

"It's okay, I will wait and we will leave together."

Raji looked at Karthik and smiled.

"Thanks Karthik...I love you..."

Karthik smiled at Raji "Me too..."

Both ended up staying at work until 7 pm before leaving together for the evening.

*Part 4*

It was Saturday morning the next day and the weather was perfect outside. Chennai was in its festive mood and everyone was celebrating Deepavali together. Over at Lakshmi's place, Karthik was dressed in a white and brown gurtha. He was getting ready while the doorbell rang. He went over to see who it was. It was Vishnu who was wearing a black and navy blue gurtha and came inside.

"Happy Deepavali machan" He said in a cheerful voice.

"Happy Deepavali Vishnu."

"Enna da, where is Lakshmi and Raji?" Vishnu asked.

"I think Lakshmi is in her room...Raji is not here yet."

"How come she's not here yet? Try calling her." Vishnu said.

Karthik took his phone from the pocket and tried calling Raji's cell but she wasn't picking up.

"Enna machan?"

"Illai da, I've been trying to call her for the past few hours, I think she's at work or she is working from home..." Karthik sounded a little disappointed.

"Maybe she went outside with her aunt and uncle?"

"Maybe...either way I don't think she is coming." Karthik said looking away.

"Seri viduda don't worry."

Just then Lakshmi opened her room door and came out. She was dressed in a light sequined red and green saree.

"Oh you're here Vishnu...good...can you come with me to the store?"

"Yein Lakshmi?"

"Illai, I wanted to buy some things quickly for Deepavali, if you don't mind."

"No no, it's no problem for me. We can go." Vishnu said.

Vishnu looked at Karthik who was looking at his phone.

"Karthik, you come too...maybe Raji is not coming..."

"I tried calling her too but she isn't picking up...watch what I do to her when I see her next." Lakshmi said.

"Illai Vishnu, you guys go ahead. I'm going to stay here." Karthik replied.

"Seri da. We'll be back."

Vishnu and Lakshmi left closing the door behind them. Karthik went to his room and was looking through a few bills which he had to pay. He went to get his laptop and the doorbell rang. He figured it might be Vishnu and Lakshmi and went to get the door. He opened it and was surprised to see it was.

At the door stood Raji. She was dressed in a dark maroon and beige colour light silk saree. Her hair was let down and clipped halfway at the top. She wore maroon colour bangles on both hands with a simple choker necklace and matching earrings.

"Raji!?" Karthik called out.

"Hi Karthik. Happy Deepavali!!" She said smiling at the door.

"Happy Deepavali. Vaa Raji. Wow, I can't believe you came. I thought you wouldn't be able to come today."

Raji entered inside. "Sorry, I'm late. I was making sweets in the morning." She said giving a bag of sweets to Karthik.

Karthik took the bag and noticed its weight. "You made all of this this morning?"

"Aama Karthik, but Athai helped me too..." she said smiling.

Raji looked around at the house and at the ceiling.

"Wow, this house is so big." She said surprised.

Karthik smiled at her "That's why it's rented...the owner makes a lot of money this way."

"Whooaa...yeah you're right, he probably does make a lot of profit this way. Aaamaa, where is Vishnu and Lakshmi."

"They went to buy a few things, they'll be back soon. Come, I'll make you coffee."

Karthik led Raji to the kitchen placing the bag of sweets on the table. He started making coffee while Raji was looking around the kitchen.

"Did you talk to your dad?" Karthik asked.

Raji turned and faced him.

"Yes, I talked to him this morning. He says he misses me and wants to see me soon."

"Appo...my maamanar is coming to Chennai soon?" Karthik asked winking at Raji.

"It looks like it!" Raji said smiling at him.

Karthik turned and faced Raji.

"Raji.." he said in a deep voice.

"Yenna"

"You look so beautiful today."

Raji blushed. "You look very nice today too...like a hero from hindi films."

Karthik started to step forward and Raji took a step back looking at him.

"If I look like a hero then you are my heroine."

"Appriyaa??" She asked softly taking a few steps back now.

"Aamaa..." Karthik said still walking closer and closer to her.

Raji was now backed up against a wall and Karthik put his arms out and touched the wall caging Raji in between. They were very close to each other. Karthik looked into Raji's eyes. Raji's heartbeat was beating very fast. She wasn't able to look at Karthik and instead looked at the floor.

"I love you Raji." Karthik whispered in her ears.

Raji closed her eyes and smiled.

Karthik looked at her then took his arms off the wall and went to pour the coffee in the mugs. Raji could feel Karthik's presence gone and opened her eyes and watched him pour the coffee. She smiled as he handed over a cup to her.

"Thanks."

Raji took a sip and walked out of the kitchen to the living room. She put the mug on the coffee table and heard Karthik's phone ringing.

Karthik took his phone out from his pocket.

"Raji, hold on it's appa amma, I'll talk to them and be back."

"Okay Karthik" she called out and started walking towards the side door. The side door was opened and Raji walked out past the driveway into the garden. It was very big with plants and flowers. She walked through the garden and noticed the different flowers there. She looked up at the sky and saw the sun shining away. She was starting to feel dizzy because of the heat and slowly walked backed inside. Her body temperature started to increase and she wanted to close her eyes. She almost tripped on the steps back inside but managed to hold herself. She took deep breaths now. Her head was spinning and she was finding it hard to breathe. Everything felt really hazy for her and she started to close her eyes.

"Kaarr...thhikk.." she tried calling out but not to be heard.

She collapsed down on the floor and lay there.

*Part 5*

"Raji!"

Raji lay motionless on the floor.

"Raji!! Raajii!!" Karthik shook her but she wasn't moving. He carefully lifted her and took her to his room. He laid her on his bed then touched her face and called again.

"Raji!! Come on Raji, open your eyes..."

Karthik called the emergency line to a local hospital and explained the situation. The hospital receptionist asked for his address and said they were immediately sending a doctor over.

Karthik hung up the phone and looked at Raji. He got some water and sprinkled a few drops on her face.

"Raji..."

She still wasn't moving...

About ten minutes later, the doorbell rang and Karthik rushed to get it. It was the doctor. He brought her inside and took her to his room.

"What happened Mr. Karthik?" the doctor asked.

"Doctor, she just fell to the floor. I don't know what happened, she was fine earlier...doctor she will be okay right..." Karthik's voice was trembling and he started to panic.

The doctor looked at Raji then at Karthik. "Please wait outside while I examine her."

"Seri doctor."

Karthik closed the door and waited outside nervously.

A few minutes later he heard his room door open and the doctor came out.

"Doctor. Is everything okay? Is Raji fine?"

"She's fine Karthik but she's very weak that's why she fainted. Her heart beat is not normal and she seems very tensed. Even now she is not sleeping properly so I gave her an injection. It's just glucose in her body. It looks like she hasn't been eating properly either since her pulse is low."

Karthik couldn't believe everything he was hearing but he knew where this was all coming from. He thought about everything that happened over the past two weeks. Raji was over stressing herself with the client project. She hasn't been eating properly or sleeping he thought.

"Doctor, is there anything else serious?"

"No, no she is fine. Just let her sleep for a few hours then make sure she eats properly. I'm not sure how her regular diet is, but I can suggest a few vitamin tablets if you want."

"Yes doctor that would be great." Karthik insisted.

The doctor took out her writing pad and wrote something before giving it to Karthik.

"These are vitamin tablets. Taking one once every two days should help. If there are any more problems, I suggest you see her regular family doctor."

Karthik took the paper and looked at it.

"Thanks doctor."

"You're welcome Mr. Karthik."

Karthik led the doctor out and then put the prescription in his pocket. He went to his room and opened the door quietly. He stepped inside and looked at Raji who was asleep. He went across the bed and sat on the other side near the edge. He took her hand and stroked it gently.

Raji... he wondered.

He let go of her hand then took his comforter and put it over her body. He closed the door and sat on the sofa in the living room. He took the prescription out of his pocket and read it. He thought about Raji and everything they went through together. He wished he had helped her more with this client presentation even though she was given a large role in it. He thought about when she tried to commit suicide and how she fell in his arms. Karthik was feeling emotional.

About an hour later Karthik went back to his room and opened the door. Raji was still sleeping. He was about to leave the room when he heard Raji starting to move in his bed. She was starting to get up. Her eyes were opening and she looked up at the ceiling. Confused she looked around and saw Karthik by the door. Karthik saw her awake now and went and stood by her.

"Raji..." he called out.

"Karthik..." she said in a slightly confused voice.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Raji looked at Karthik then realized that she had fainted.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I think I was just a little tired that's it." She was about to get up but Karthik went and sat on the edge of the bed.

"No Raji, I think you should sleep a little more."

"No Karthik I'm fine. I'm not a little child...don't worry..." she said sitting up.

"Well you act like one." Karthik said bluntly.

Raji was surprised and gave a questioning look to Karthik.

"Yes Raji you do. The doctor told me everything."

Raji got shocked and thought. Everything? Did he really know about what's been happening for the past several weeks with her...that can't be true...no...

Raji gulped and looked at Karthik and asked slowly "What did the doctor say?"

Karthik looked at her and said in a serious tone. "That you are very weak and you haven't eaten properly or slept for the past few days."

"Did they say anything else?" She asked again slowly...

"She wrote some vitamin tablets which I am going to make sure you take."

Raji let out a sigh of relief and managed to smile.

Good...he doesn't know... she thought.

"Sorry Karthik..." she said looking up at him.

"Don't say sorry Raji, it's not going to work this time, you should have told them if there is any problem."

"I know I know, you're right, it's my fault, I was a little careless with this whole client presentation. But it's all finishing now; I promise everything will be back to normal." She insisted.

Karthik looked at Raji still unconvinced. Raji took his arms that was on the bed and kissed his right hand then brought his hands close to her chest.

"I'm sorry Karthik..." She said making her adorable innocent face.

Karthik finally smiled and pulled her into his arms. Raji was surprised by this but liked the warmth and comfort in his arms.

"I love you Raji..." He said stroking her hair.

Raji smiled and a tear was rolling down her cheek.

"I love you too..."

He kissed her forehead.

"I almost lost you once and I'm not going to risk losing you again."

Raji smiled hearing this.

"Promise me that you will tell me if there is any problem."

"I promise." She said looking at him but feeling a little hesitant.

They heard a noise coming from outside. The front door was opening and they heard voices. It was Vishnu and Lakshmi.

"Karthik?" Lakshmi called out.

"I'm here Lakshmi." Karthik replied.

Karthik got off the bed as Vishnu and Lakshmi came and stood by the door.

"Raji, when did you come? What happened?" Lakshmi asked.

"She's fine, she just fainted..." Karthik replied.

"Aaiiyayo what happened Raji?" Vishnu asked.

"Onum illai, Vishnu just konjum work tension and everything...I haven't eaten or slept properly for past few days that's it...nothing serious. I'm fine..."

"Are you sure Raji?" Lakshmi asked concerned now stepping inside the room.

"Yes Lakshmi, don't worry it's nothing. Speaking of food, I made sweets at home for everyone."

Raji took the comforter off her, got off the bed and noticed that her saree was a little wrinkled and her hair was messed.

"Hold on guys, let me just fix my saree and freshen up."

"Raji we'll wait outside." Karthik said and left the room.

"Do you want me to help you Raji?" Lakshmi asked.

"It's okay, I'm fine. How about you get the plates ready and I'm coming in two minutes."

"Seri di." Lakshmi called out and closed the door behind her.

Raji unpinned her saree and placed the pin on Karthik's dresser. She noticed a photo frame there. She took the picture and smiled. It was a candid picture of Karthik and her. She remembered when it was taken, the day all four of them went outside together one weekend. Vishnu had taken the picture of Karthik and Raji smiling at each other. Raji looked at the picture.

I love you Karthik.

She put the frame back down carefully and fixed her saree quickly and did her hair again. She opened the door and came out of Karthik's room. She saw everyone in the dining room setting up the table.

Raji took the box of sweets out from the bag. Lakshmi passed the plates around while Karthik and Vishnu brought the other food.

"Wow, did you guys buy all this?" Raji asked.

"Amma Raji, Vishnu almost bought the entire store. Today we are going to try everything here!" Lakshmi said.

Raji put the sweets with the other food and sat beside Karthik. She was about to put some food on her plate but Karthik took it instead.

"I'll put your food Raji." He said putting food on her plate.

"Enna Karthik, I can do it myself."

"I know you can, but still I am going to put the food and you have to eat everything. You haven't eaten properly for the past few days so you better eat everything now."

Raji smiled.

"Ok sir." She said mocking Karthik.

The four friends ate together while joking around. They put some music on and were singing and dancing. Raji forgot the tension she initially had and was happily enjoying with her friends.

After dinner, they all went to the terrace. Vishnu set up a few fireworks and lit each one one by one. They watched as the crackers burst and as the fireworks went up in the air. Vishnu helped Lakshmi light another one up and watched as it went soaring in the sky.

Raji wanted to try lighting one and looked at Karthik. He took a cracker and put it on the floor.

"Raji be careful." Karthik warned her, being over protective.

"Dei machan don't worry these are safe ones. Raji come on you light it up." Vishnu said.

Karthik helped Raji light the cracker and watched as it flew up in the sky letting out bright colours.

Karthik, Raji, Lakshmi and Vishnu went by the railing and yelled "Happy Deepavaliii!!" All four were laughing and smiling looking out at the street from up top.

A few minutes later, they went downstairs and Raji looked at the giant grandfather clock.

"I better leave Karthik, it's getting late."

"Seri, hold on let me get my bike key, I'll drop you off."

Raji nodded her head and Karthik went to get his key.

"Enna Raji, you are leaving so soon." Lakshmi asked.

"Illai Lakshmi, it's better I leave now so Athai and Maama don't worry about me."

"Raji, do you want me to drop you off?" Vishnu asked.

"It's okay Vishnu, you stay for longer. Karthik said he will drop me off."

"Appo seri."

Karthik came with his key and looked at Vishnu. "Dei machan you wait here I'll drop her off and come back."

"Seri da."

"Appo bye Raji, we'll see you Monday." Lakshmi called out.

"Bye, thanks again for everything." Raji replied walking to the door.

Karthik and Raji left as Lakshmi and Vishnu went to the dining table to help put a few last things away.

Outside, the air was a little cooler and the breeze felt pleasant. Raji got on Karthik's bike and had her hand on Karthik's right shoulder. It was a quiet ride but Karthik broke the silence.

"Raji, I'm sorry..."

"Enna Karthik?" She asked surprised.

"Illai Raji, I misunderstood you, I should have understood that you were busy with the client visit and I shouldn't have got mad."

"Leave it Karthik, it's over now. It's my fault too, I should have balanced work and everything else...I just got a little carried away with this project. It's all going to be over soon anyways." She said softly.

"Go home and sleep Raji, it's been a long day."

Raji smiled "Seri..."

Karthik dropped Raji off a few houses away from her aunt's house as usual. Raji got off the bike and stood in front of Karthik.

"I'll see you Monday Raji."

Raji nodded her head. She turned around and took a step but Karthik caught her hand from behind. Raji turned around and looked at Karthik.

"Enna?" she asked.

"I love you." Karthik said in a soft voice.

Raji blushed and smiled at him.

"Me too."

Karthik let go of her hand and Raji walked away to her house. She looked back at Karthik one last time and smiled at him before going inside. Karthik watched as Raji went inside then turned his bike around and went back home recounting his Deepavali day with her.
