No offense, but that you are co people producer makes ur opinion one sided. Had it been pan Singh tomar I would have agreed. But good road, is.way better than the lunch box.
For that matter even a better movie had been shobdo. Indian movies r a mine field.of.gems and there are way deserving regional movies that needs to be showcased instead of the illogical focus on bw.

He is not talking about the content only.. His point is that with content you also need other factors like a big backer to be able to push you amongst the Oscar decision makers. For Lagaan remember how much Aamir and team had promoted the movie?

The point is that if you have a decent product, make sure you can influence other factors, otherwise don't bother for things like Oscar.

Exactly, why do the Oscars matter so much? Why do we need to be appreciated by them to realize our worth?

-------

the Oscars matter because then indian films get a wider audience, indian film makers get
more known, there will be more foreign investment in indian films and producers wont hv
to keep making only masala films like rowdy rathore n chennai express to stay afloat

when even a foreign filmmaker is voicing his concern, i hope the selection committee
will listen and learn

Part of me thinks that if K Jo hadn't jumped in as a producer and started his praising the film by dissing Indian films in general, the committee may have been more inclined to select The Lunchbox. But then again, there was Anurag Kashyap and all of his dissing on the industries as well.
