Episode 413 Discussion: 26th Oct 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for Newcomers to this thread.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

Weekly TRP trends are below (note: data converted from TVTs to TRPs so that we could have consistent comparison points. This is a rough inexact conversion and may not match to the second decimal place with other estimates due to minor differences in conversion methodology)

Note: Data converted from TVTs to TRPs from week 31 onwards. Does not take into consideration impact of adding new markets at various points. Size of these markets, viewing patterns, demographics, level of digitization etc. of those markets would impact TRPs. Also, hard to judge IPL's exact impact.

The two charts below show: 1) Top 15 shows TRPs and 2) TRP increase/drop for those shows, compared to the week prior. The blue bars on the second chart are the ones that did better, the red are the ones that did worse, and the no bars are the ones that were the same.

Note: this is a rough analysis. Please feel free to point out any holes.

Week 42 TRP Breakdown Madhubala

Saturday, 12th Oct -Last scene is RK gives Madhu a romantic surprise. Precap: RK and Madhu date continues from the Saturday last scene, RK teases Madhu by pretending there's a mouse and gives Madhu a fright. Madhu tells him next time he does such a thing, she'll get a bunch of mice for him. Pabho fumes, says that Rishabh saved Madhu this time but next time no one will save Madhu.
1.9 - Monday, 14th Oct - RM romantic diet dinner. Madhu gets a midnight snack, only to be startled by Pabho who sends her off to a distant temple at the crack of dawn. Pabho pushes Radha around, and claims ignorance to RK on where Madhu is. RK finds Madhu's letter, sweet moment. Precap: Poor Madhu trudging up the hill to complete nivaaran.
2.0 - Tuesday, 15th Oct - RM surrounded by deceit, plotting and conniving. RK and Pabho at breakfast, Pabho anxious to go to the temple to watch Madhu's defeat first-hand. Amar Behl and Kukku get an electrician to sabotage the electrical system at Sitara Studio. Evil duos exultant that their plan is working. Madhu asks for blessing from the Lord in makeshift temple. RK confronts the saboteur, only to be distracted by Simmy and her mother. Precap: Mice biting praying Madhu's feet; juxtaposed against shot of short circuit in the studio (with RK's poster in the background.)
2.1 - Wednesday, 16th Oct - Evil duo of Dips and Pabho watch Madhu being bitten by mice but continuing her prayers regardless. Fire starts at studio. RK serendipitously sees the fire raging. Dashing hero saves the day. Disaster averted. RK stopped from drinking (to douse anger by doubts raised by insurance folks) by MC. Dance rehearsals start. Madhu hobbles in. Both RM try to spare each other pain, and hide their respective disasters from each other. Precap: Madhu asks a horrified Roma not to tell RK about her injured feet.
2.3 - Thursday, 17th Oct - Madhu shows up for the dance sequence shoot despite wounded feet. RK notices and calls for packup, lovingly takes her home. Pabho displays concern for RK (due to fire at studio) and ignores Madhu. Radha shows love and concern for Madhu, and later meekly confronts Pabho who meanly rubs it in to Radha that RK doesn't call her mother. RK lovingly tends to Madhu's wounds. Lovely new song introduced. RK figures out that Madhu is doing the temple duty at Pabho's behest. Precap: RK lays down the law, no extra work or puja stuff for Madhu, includes Pabho in the 'request'.
2.5 - Friday, 18th Oct - RK takes matters into his own hands the next day. He reads the riot act to Bhatia family, saying Madhu is to be excused from house and puja duty, includes Pabho in the "request." Pabho is sugary sweet with Madhu. Madhu as Anamika slaps Karan aka RK, for real. RK plays at being miffed, the two make-up in the makeup room, romantic scene where the two get close. Precap: Amar Behl and Kukku looking for a potential accomplice in RK's crew. Simmy's mother spikes Madhu's coffee.
2.4 - Saturday, 19th Oct - Episode set primarily in the studio, and focused on the shoot. Karan-Anamika sensual sequence, Madhu is uncomfortable with onlookers watching intimate scene being shot. She hesitates and flounders multiple times. RK the consummate professional tries to put her at ease. MC yells at Madhu, and calls pack-up in frustration. Simmy's mother drinks the coffee. Precap: Pabho plans to recruit Radha to destroy the Radha-Madhu mother-daughter relationship and break Madhu.

Madhu's obsession with KC continues, RK's obsession with the movie continues..and here we were thinking that Madhu will leave him 🤣

There was only one dialogue that captured my attention very keenly...

"agar tumhari yeh pehchan(i.e, RK ki Biwi) tumhari doosri pehchaan aur commitments par bhaari pad jaaye"

Does it mean that RK wants to make her a star and she gain fame and love from people? He is ready to share her with the world..

or does it mean, he is just thinking about his movie?

If the CV's are going on the former route, i will be more than happy... The whole game changes...

but if it is the latter😒 , RK comes out looking ridiculously, senselessly selfish...

Kameenapanti with sense, application of mind, sensitivity will be charming but kameenapanpanti not making any sense, my way only, is quite unappealing.

RK you jerk! What is the point of loving your wife to bits if you are going to humiliate her publicly again and again?

Radhaji, Aaj aapne saabit kar diya ki aap RK ki maa hain aur RK aapko kisi kumbh ke mele se leke nahi aaya That's right, don't give your bahu any sargi and don't even talk to her decently but demand an answer from her in front of all your guests 👎🏼

But why am I getting angry on Madhu's behalf? That bull-headed brat 😡 Does she really believe in KC or is this just her stubbornness to get things done her way? Even the public humiliation did not deter her from her goal. Is it humanly possible for a woman to be insulted like this by her husband publicly and yet go all moony-eyed when he breaks her fast? Sorry! When he is tricked into breaking her fast and he hates her for making him do it

I guess RK should just give up expecting Madhu to take the film seriously. Just like he can't help humiliating her publicly everytime, she also can't help being a stubborn brat. Made for each other couple this is!

Sorry girls but much as I tried I couldn't enjoy today's episode. From the last 3 episodes RM are playing the game of 'Why don't you understand me?'. At first it was cute, now it is just frustrating. This KC is not even 5% of last year's KC And no, I don't want a second KC celebration this time. Once is enough 🥱 Can we get on with a new track on Monday please.

Mind you this is MEIEJ... RK might be forgiven for his mistakes but RK pays for his mistakes also.. he will grovel in pain...

ETA: armummy you might be right... expecting something nice from the CV's is next to impossible i guess... every few episodes they disappoint us with characters going overboard with their stances that it becomes ridiculous and the whole situation that could justify their stance starts falling apart.

I'd say it was a Googly of an episode. Here we were expecting Madhu to go ballistic and make RK face the home truth of her devotion for KC, but she assumes silence in front of RJi's pitiful pleas to know the truth too. Dont misunderstand me, I dont' care a hoot if she is answered to or not. But Madhu trying to talk sense n sensitivity to her husband after his outburst has sent me off kitters. We were expecting RK to be grovelling and eating humble pie, but instead he seems to be growing more indignant and arrogant by the minute. What's this CVs, with Madhu in appeasing mode and RK in angry mode, what will happen to our weekly quota of romance, not to forget the yearly make -up romantic KC session. Right now things are looking bleak for us Rishbala lovers. Till about yesterday, I understood RK's need to get Madhu to prioritize her work commitment. But now I'm not getting his stand on the matter at all. Why is he so adamant on making her shake off all her wifely duties?Just bcoz MC said so. To me his current insistence can only be justified if he was dying or something and so wanted Madhu to be more prepared to face the world alone. But all this just for a film, is going overboard. So please CVs tone it down a bit, or we will find it difficult to connect with the characters and their stands, though the conflict might be interesting to watch. Oh forgot to add MC's dialogues on RK just added to the googliness of it all even more. Was he serious or was he joking? He looked like he meant it, until Madhu turned her bulging eyes on him and he seemed to backtrack before he was given another lecture. 😆

Mehul seems to have some amnesia. *He* was the one who threatened to quit the movie and insisted on RK getting Madhu to focus totally on being actress and deprioritize wifely duties.
Now *he* is given dialogues telling Madhu that RK doesn't care about her?😲

Do the CVs think mass-audience will have collective convenient amnesia for which character says what, even though that didn't happen in any of the past several months of previous tracks?

I said earlier that Mehul was a more insidious threat to Madhu than Pabho could ever be.
He has been far more subtle in what he has led RK and Madhu to do, and can always claim later that they shouldn't have listened to him. More worryingly, the couple may never know the slow vitriol that man has seeped into their lives.
He wants her and RK to fulfil his requirements for the film. But he considers only his opinions to have worth, and was contemptuously dismissive of Madhu's own dreams for life.
And yet he has invariably made reactions that reflect poorly on him to RK and Madhu individually each in the absence of the other.
Neither RK nor Madhu know about the man's pushes to each other.
RK does not know how often Mehul pressured Madhu to take on the heroine role by reminding her of RK being in crisis.
Madhu does not know that the Mehul who was today commending her wifely love and talking of her husband's lack of consideration for her had told her husband he would quit as director if Madhu did not completely immerse herself in the film.

What the CVs seem to be doing seems to be the equivalent of shooting oneself in the foot, and then finding an axe and ramming one's shot foot onto the axe.

RK's attitude and harping on about Madhu needing to focus on the career would make sense if the story, the track or even one of the characters expected Madhu to continue in the profession she detests beyond this one film.
His ranting about Madhu forgetting her own nature and becoming a persona she is not - which looks so bizarrely inexplicable in the current shoddily written track - would have made sense if he were forcing Madhu into acting not for just one film but into that career for more and more films.
But in gambling on majboor RK and mahaan Madhu to make the stardom track acceptable to majority-audience, the CVs seem to have written themselves into a deadend alley with no way to make even the remotest sense of any of the reactions they need to carve the future situations.

His being agonized by her pain in any other matter, and yet not considering that she is doing something she detests for him and it's embarrassing for him to expect more from her, is beyond clunky strange.

If she weren't heroine, then in this clunkdonia track, he would supposedly not have the bank loan approved at all.
The very film being in progress at all is supposedly because of her.
Then it follows that it's not losses for when she's not working, but rather all the losses that have been avoided for every amount of time that she has been working.

RK's behaving as if Madhu needs to focus on a career that is not intended to last beyond the current project is beyond inexplicably ludicrous.

And first Ganeshotsav and now karva chauth have been turned into farcical presentations this year, unlike the excellence of last year.

RK *knows* the extent Madhu went to for the ritual last year.
Has she ever done anything since then until now to indicate that her sentiments on that point might perhaps have changed? Definitely not.

And shoots do not qualify as important enough in this series that they can't be cancelled for something so much more important to majority-audience as karva chauth.

If - instead of this dashing back and forth from shoot - Madhu had flatly refused to shoot on that day and said that the fast for her husband's long life was more important to her than missing one day of his film (with or without the suggestion that scenes not featuring her be shot instead for the day), she would have got full support from majority-audience.
Husband's film (even with his and their potential financial ruin) is far less important in on-screen presentations than karva chauth for the repeatedly-almost-dying husband.
Her husband has already almost died more than seven times since their first wedding.
She has more reason to worry for his longevity than most wives might.

This career is Madhu becoming heroine, not a doctor that someone's life might be on the line if she didn't go to work.
If it's a choice between a ritual for the longevity of her frequently-visiting-death husband and the comparative importance of his film, it's a no-contest.
The film - or anything which won't risk someone else's life - can wait as a far less important thing.

And RK and MC have both yelled pack-up in this very film for far more paltry reasons.
So any layperson expected to think one more shoot cancelled would be a big thing would need to have amnesia about the history of pack-ups within this very film's shoots so far.

Don't know if yesterday's and today's episode will get good TRP.
Audience may have remembered last year's belatedly beautifully celebrated karva chauth and watched the karva chauth episodes this year with some hope of a fond repeat after somewhat similar hostile strain between the couple.
Was it awareness that the next episodes would prove to be revealingly disappointing in some facet or the other that led to the precluding of precaps and also resulted in the current MEIEJ promo using scenes from last year's karva chauth?

Red - RK is adamant because Madhu is showing him again and again that she doesn't care two hoots for his priorities. He has been patient enough with her (not counting the KC humiliation) but she has been like a solid wall with no eyes or ears. She is refusing to register anything he is saying despite him repeating it many times.

There are many times in life when you have to keep your own interests aside for your loved ones. RK is going through the worst phase of his career right now and his whole existence is at stake. He is not wrong if he expects his wife to understand the gravity of the situation and change her priorities for just a few months. Problem is that Madhu is telling him outright that her priorities will not change. What she is telling him effectively is that "I have already done you a huge favour by working in your film, now don't expect more". She will never say these words but her actions are clearly saying so. She is not involved with the film at all, she is just doing her job and longing to go home. There is no feeling of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with RK in getting the film made well.

It is a pity because she has again lost the advantage she gained in the eyes of the audience by becoming RK's heroine against her will.

If this KC drama was aimed at earning brownie points for Madhu with the TRP audience, it is going to fail big time. Any woman from the TRP audience will happily give up KC if her husband needs her to stand by him in a bad phase of his career instead.

And a non-TRP audience like me is getting frustrated with the repetitive foolishness. Now I just want this stupid KC to end so that we can move on to (hopefully) a saner track.
