Birth of lump of flesh told the myth behind her prolonged pregnancy.

Yeah ur statement is true...m a medical student and I read some of my books...the pregnancy does extend to 10 11 months...acc to 30 days
But in hindu calender...lunar months are counted...and so acc to their calculation it could end
up as 15 months

Was Gandhari right in blindfolding herself when she came to know that her husband was blind from birth?

It actually happens even today, and its causes are still unknown. In Medical terms it is called - 'postterm pregnancy'. Nowdays if such case occurs, that is if a woman's pregnancy prolongs beyond the normal period, then labour is 'induced' with the help of doctors to deliver the baby, or else the baby will die. Either hormonal medications are given or surgical techniques are used to do so.
I think Gandhari's baby had died inside the womb bcause after 9 months the fetus can begin to suffer from malnutrition. After the 42nd week of gestation, the placenta which supplies the baby with nutrients and oxygen from the mother, starts aging and will eventually fail. May be this is why Gandhari gave birth to a dead and decayed lump of flesh.
Later what Vyas did by putting the pieces of flesh in to 100 pots of clarified butter sounds similar to test-tube babies. Because it is actually impossible for a woman to carry 100 babies at a time, so it can be assumed that the 101 kauravas were born through the test-tube incubation technique.

This is the best scientific explanation to the events.
People may think Mahabharat is a filled with fantastical thoughts, but I feel its just too ahead of its time!

test tube babies relies on invitro fertilisation where the ovum and sperm cells have to be living. Could these cells be derived from a post term calcified or decayed dead foetus? To make that lump grow into multiple live babies it would have to have live stem cells at least and not a calcified dead foetus.

may be that is what was the boon from Mahadev...may be Gandhari just developed the fertilized cell mass...which itself took more than regular time coz it wasn't regular ...the process was 100 time multiplied...if today we can preserve stem cells in vitro...why cant they be kept capable in human womb by some supernatural forces...I completely believe that all MB incidences must be having some base...which we are not capable of understanding...i cant rule out a possibility just because it cant be explained...

the boon by Mahadev... people just took it in normal way...if a lady has to give birth to 100 children it wont be regular birth process...think of the poor mother if it was regular way...so everyone including Gandhari failed to predict and understand that it will be mysterious and unusual...

now regarding her being pregnant for 15 months...a lady experiences labor pains when the baby inside her is developed completely and tries to come out...now if Gandhari did not have any human form inside her...hw will she experience labor pain...so even if she had waited for few more months for it to be natural...the situation would not have changed...and no would be mother will beat her womb like that without getting frustrated to the extent Gandhari got...may be thats what was required to get the mass out of her...which got required treatment later by ved vyas...

I think no she shouldn't have blindfolded...that too without consulting Dritrashtra was even more worse...she should have gone the other way..the way Drit wanted her to be his eyes...i dont disrespect her feelings behind they were nobel...but were not correct according to me.

Agreed with the bold. If 100 sons were born from that mass it had to be something like stem cells that could multiply and grow into full beings outside the body. It couldnt have been a dead and decaying post term foetus as someone said.

I too feel that she should not have blindfolded herself. She would have been more useful if she had been able to see what Shakuni and her children were upto. Like other characters in MB she also took an emotional impulsive decision which had bad consequences.
