Chapter: 21Part 2):

The following Day...

Khushi's Wooden House...

"Love and a promise of love----" Khushi heard Sheethal say and turned around, her face clearly showing the annoyance for being disturbed in her aloofness.

"Huh?" she just asked her voice barely a whisper as her eyes shifted back to the flat screen in front of her.

"What a Girl Wants?"

Khushi threw a side glance at her friend, before eying briefly at the name of the movie flashing on the left corner of her Television screen and shifted her attention back to the conversation going on in the movie. "You could read that from there? And for your information, this is a father-daughter story, so please spare your love lecture---" She spoke in her husky voice, half of her words almost vanishing off into hush sound.

"Really?! Oh!" Sheethal exclaimed sitting beside Khushi leaning onto the bed behind them, as she lazily started munching on the popcorn almost stealing them from the bowl in Khushi's hand.

"That could still be applied you see? The girl wants love n the promise of love from her father" she added dramatically and Khushi rolled her eyes, as the voices from the television continued to fill in her small dorm room.

"I thought you gave me a day off!" Khushi whined just when Sheethal was about to take another fist of pop-corn from her bowl. "Yes the boss gave you a day off; friend didn't; & please stop speaking! You sound horrible!!"

As on cue, Khushi coughed sipping on her little sipper consisting of hot water, looking pointedly to her side meeting Sheethal's teasing eyes. "I---" she opened her mouth only to abruptly close back again when she heard the same hush voice from her own throat causing her to pout.

"The rain----" she managed to utter in her cold-ridden, nostrils-blocked, throat-infected, sick husky voice.

"Along with the long wailing session last night?"

"I didn't!-----" she uttered urgently, her gruff voice coming out as another low hoarse sound. Sheethal just raised her one eye-brow as if challenging her and Khushi frowned, turning off the Television as she jumped on the bed landing herself on her stomach, tugging a pillow in between her tangling hands as she popped up her head over them before she fell into a thoughtful silence.

"Shee?" she called out in her voice low as she rested the side of her face on the pillow. Sheethal turned around, her hand reflexively checking the temperature over khushi's head as she turned around to completely face her. "Hmm?"

"You okay?"

Sheethal looked for a brief second before bursting out into peals of laughter. "Don't you think the question right now is from a ridiculously wrong person?"

"No! Seriously? I mean, you are quite known around here Shee, the announcement?"

"I know, you think Anjali is some kind of a lunatic-----"

"---NO!"

"She is just crazy! Stupid rather, even after all these years she keeps complaining about finding out ways to show her love to Arnav. She seems to be thinking that Arnav needs someone to shower love on him, so he would find a way to life, rather than running away----"

"Whats wrong with that? Common, she is just being the worried sister----"

Sheethal arched an eye-brow at her but thought better of commenting anything about Khushi's ignorance of the mess the whole situation has created for her. "Yes" she simply agreed.

"And to answer your first question, she went on the stage again later on and confessed it all, her prank I mean"

"Oh!"

"Yeap! So I'm good, if you are asking about the people, announcement and mess"

They fell into a comfortable silence for a few minutes before Sheethal spoke looking down at her.

"You know what Arnav actually needs?" she asked causing Khushi to jerk her head up and look at her curiously.

"I guess trust----"

"---that he wouldn't run away?"

"Uh, something like that, someone who can give him a reason to turn around for once?" she said suggestively.

"---- and it shouldn't be someone who is picking up the pieces of her own messed up life"

Sheethal groaned and bent down to look into those innocent, obnoxious, perceptive hazels even as Khushi tried to keep her face steady. "Just let go! I don't know what it is! I repeat--- I don't even want to know, but just let go Khushi!"

"These are all your own perceptive reasons Khushi, for once try and look beyond everything, look beyond all your life's shit and try to beckon the normal girl in you. It sure as hell craves for Normalcy, attention, love..."

"Shee---"

"No! Hear me out... That girl within you only wants simple things Khushi. No big shots, nothing at all. Just plain Promise of Love. And the moment she can feel that, identify that or rather realize that very feeling through that certain someone's words, you cannot do anything. All your reasons, past, bullshit"everything will be gone with the wind and you, will be a goner too----"

"Shee?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you have a serious love problem or something?"

"Oh yeah! I loved a guy, but he loved my best friend"

"Oh no!"

"Yeah! " Sheethal pouted sitting beside khushi.

"Then?"

"Then what? I stopped doing his homework..." She paused meeting Khushi's eyes with a glint of smile in her eyes. "In 3rd standard" she added and the both of them broke into a comfortable laughter. Sheethal got up still laughing walking towards the exit door, as Khushi yet again fell into a thoughtful silence before shifting her attention to her friend who was then putting on her boots.

"Already?"

"What? I thought you wanted a day off! I gotto go too, sleep pumpkin! And no beer in the night spare that today----"

Khushi chuckled, gathering herself into a sitting position. "Don't you think the heat of the liquid could help me right now?"

"Whatever! Go to hell, bye!"

"Shee?"

"Ha!" She turned around standing behind the door, holding the door open a little just to look at her from the space. "I love you" she heard khushi say and she flashed a smile before making her way out locking the door behind her, leaving a thoughtful Khushi alone.

**

True to her words, the late night of the same day saw Khushi sitting on the very same bridge-cliff, over the far-end of the sea-shore taking swigs of her beer every often and as she stared into the sea distantly, following the track of waves from the very core area of the water bed and she found herself letting out a bitter-sweet laugh.

"Arnav means Ocean, you know that?"

She spoke to no one in particular taking another pull of her drink, as she wiped her mouth using the back of her hand, her full sleeves t-shirt coming in way while her free hand vigorously tugged it back to her elbow. "Ocean resembles lot of figuring out, as deep as it can get----" she added taking another swig from her bottle.

"Oh, obviously you knew that already, don't you?" she said referring to the flowing waves.

"And no! I'M not complaining, who am I to complain about certain uncertainty of an uncertain mind of someone when in reality I'm the living-walking form of the word called Mess!"

She chuckled again as the alcohol started kicking in her senses, and as she eagerly heard the juggling sounds of the waves enjoying the winter wind, her high pony playing along with it, she giggling yet again amidst taking another pull, as a realization hit her. "Wow! Beachie! I speak good amount of philosophy when with you, living walking Mess, how much right can that sentence even get! Wow!"

Her own last sentence brought back the bitterness in her stance and she let out a bitter laugh, as she fell silent, the initial traces of tranquility dipping away as her heart started getting heavier in her chest with an unknown sudden uneasiness and she sighed closing her eyes trying to ignore that little drowning feeling, even as another loan tear on its own accord filled in her eyes and it evaporated as soon as it formed, along with the heavy wind.

She felt a presence after several moments of having silent conversation with the sea, and her shoulders stiffened. "Arnav??" the name escaped her mouth, realization hitting her even before she turned around standing up abruptly, to meet his tall figure, standing a few feet away from her----- as he stood out in the dark night tugging his hands to the front of his jeans, his persona illuminating the place a little owing to his bright white Tee-shirt over the shaded jeans.

"Did I not tell you to be careful in such places? When do you even plan to take me seriously?" He snapped not making a move from where he was standing.

"I'm careful----"

"No you are not!" He cut her off almost angrily yelling at her. She just looked on in daze, too shocked to react and too carried away by his presence to process what was happening. "Look where you are standing!" she heard him say and blinked her eyes whilst widening them, completely captivated by that of his honey orbs, that right now looked back at her throwing daggers with his eye-brows furrowed together.

"One step back and you are right into your beloved sea, playing with the waves, dancing with the flow oh by the way, can you swim?"

"Uh, no-----"

"Great! Do I still have to tell you? Come back here!" he ordered in his dominating tone again, causing her to squirm and finally to come out of her little lost moment. She then stepped away from the cliff, all too carefully and walked ahead towards where he was standing.

"You...you didn...dint go?" she said shuttering in her husky, grumpy voice and it sounded so low that he had a hard time listening to her amidst the heavy wind.

"What the hell happened to your voice?------"

"-----uh cold!"

"Ofcourse! Go dancing in the rain and don't change your clothes later on, roam around in cold wind! Do you not know that you are prone to Nasal infection a lot owing to your surgery?

"Why are you here Arnav?----" she asked, not wanting to answer his questions.

"I can't dammit! I just------" his voice trailed off as the familiar frustration he had been having since the last couple of days resuming back in his nerves and his hands turned into fists, even as he shifted from his one leg to another trying to gather his thoughts.

He then rushed at once reaching her and grabbed the bottle in her hand pulling it down in one long swig, completing the hard flavored liquid until the last drop teased his lips, his throat moving mechanically and he sighed throwing the bottle away, the tinkling sound of which against the rock greeted them after a moment.

"Arnav what----"

"I can't go!!!" he cut her off, snapping yet again his eyes completely attuned to that of hers.

"What if I get to hear later on that the girl was found dead falling from the cliff at Goa beach tomorrow?"

"Huh, what?"

"----Or rather, that a girl had been robbed and killed in the lonely beach at late ours"

"--------Arnav?"

"Or have died of Sinus infection!"

"Oh! May be that a girl had fallen down from the tallest building of Goa and killed herself" he went on sarcastically and at that she suddenly fell silent, just looking at him with an unreadable expression.

"And I can't go!" he repeated again throwing his hands in air completely acting oblivious to the way she was looking at him.

"I listened to you once, when you asked me to leave you on that bloody building and I know how much I had to regret that decision! I just can't again! I can't trust to leave you all by yourself! Not with your insane, crazy, obnoxious mind!"

"I can take care of myself! I had been before you came Arnav!"

"----No you can't! You have just been lucky! And you can't get lucky every damn time Khushi, if something is dangerous, it is dangerous!" He stressed pausing a little to inhale an exasperated breathe. "Nothing changes just because you want to be brave!"

"Why the hell are you talking all this Arnav?"

"Because I can't go dammit! What the hell have you done to me? What have you done to me Khushi?? Airports, plains, driving, long drives to get some peace of mind-----your bloody image of falling off from that building haunts me everywhere! Do you realize what all I had to do, to redeem myself for leaving you alone on that night----- just listening to you?? It included even-----" he trailed off his gaze travelled south over her body as flashes of another such harsh memory reflected between both of their stances and she flinched even as he turned away running his one hand in his hair impatiently.

"Don't you get it Khushi?" He said his eyes pouring out sudden desperation as he stepped closer, bringing his head dangerously close and low to meet that of hers.

"Huh?" He whispered his voice suddenly low, his breathe fanning her forehead and she just looked up just in time to meet his honey orbs shimmering with an unknown emotion, the initial traces of fury vanishing away.

Their eyes met, into a deep imprisonment for several moments as silent conversation passed between the pairs of orbs, none of it being acknowledged and he looked away suddenly tired of the little fight he had been having within himself.

"I... I'm a problem, I...uh, I.. I know it, which is why I... I asked you to leave me alone, it solves everything------"

"It doesn't!!! Khushi!" He yelled yet again throwing his hands in air as he walked vigorously around the small vicinity of the cliff, almost around her, his legs thumping hard. He then came at once to her side holding her at both of her arms vigorously bringing her closer and she just looked up blankly, too confused, and too shocked to react.

"I can't just go away and keep wondering what insane things you might be doing in your so called self discovery!" he said gently shaking her a little and all she did was look into his honey orbs that held lot of unacknowledged emotions in a complete daze, not even as much as blinking her eyes.

"What if you decide to jump of a rather tall building this time?"

And that hit a chord in her nerve and she finally blinked as the back of her mind triggered with some realization. "So you think, I've jumped deliberately off that building don't you?"

He blinked too, finally realizing what was that it had been nagging him since the time an image of a building and a white figure flashed right in front of him, suddenly amidst of his long drive several hours ago. And as soon as the realization crossed his senses, his ASR mind surfaced in robotic speed, planning, sketching and figuring his future actions, all in one split impulsive, instinctive moment, like the ASR would always do.

"Yes, I knew you lied that day----" he spoke nonchalantly finally letting her go and not meeting her eyes.

"I didn't jump!" she protested, suddenly her determined, confident I'm-not-coward exterior kicking in. "And I thought you believed me when I said I wouldn't jump that day! I was so counting on the Stranger that trusted me instantly that night Arnav! I was counting on you all these days!"

"But you did jump khushi!"

"No I didn't!"

"----You are still aren't denying that you lied to the investigation people!"

And she finally fell silent shifting her hazels away from that of his flickering them rapidly looking everywhere else other than his boring gaze. "You lied that you fell?" He stressed causing her to look up at him again and her eyes suddenly starting to fill with the familiar fear and thus traces of wetness. He lost his self to those eyes for an instant, before his sane self kicked in and he whacked his mind to concentrate on the task in hand.

"Desperate to prove that you are not coward, aren't you?"

"I'm not desperate to prove anything to anyone Arnav! The only person I ever wanted to believe that I didn't jump that day was you! Although I never knew why!"

"But you lied!" he stressed again, doing his best to not acknowledge her little accuse.

She then looked up again to meet his eyes that poured out unknown desperation and hers reflecting clear hurt. He flinched internally at her hopeful eyes, but thought better off to acknowledge them.

"I don't have to do this conversation with you! Definitely not when you have such an impression on me---"

"So, prove me wrong!"

She sighed too tired with it all and then abruptly turned away starting to walk away from him.

"Walking away doesn't help khushi!"

"Says the one, who only always knew walking away from his life!" she called out still walking not bothering to turn around.

As his mind figured out that his little put up didn't work, or rather it worked in the exact opposite way, desperation to figure it out yet again overpowered him and he broke into a small run, catching up with her, holding her hand at her wrist and turning her around abruptly, causing her to hit inside his chest, even as her one hand came rushing to clutch at his V-neck collar.

"Prove me wrong!" he just said, stressing each word suddenly affected by her proximity yet again.

"Let me go!" she struggled only causing him to hold her tighter, captivating her completely in his arms.

"You want to live, right? Invade you life, give yourself chances, and face your fears boldly, don't you?--"

"Arnav----"

"Then come with me!"

She looked up abruptly stopping her little struggling inside his arms only to be met by his brown orbs, that suddenly took the color of possessed desire, the one side of him quite familiar to her, even as she found herself squirming a little registering his train of thoughts which didn't go unnoticed by him as well.

"Come with me khushi, travel along with me to all those dangerous places I go to, take more risks, Stay with me which accounts to your biggest risk, and overcome all your fears, you are capable aren't you? You are the brave, bold, lioness aren't you?" he said loosening his grip on her wrist a little and she instantly stepped away still looking at him confused and lost.

What had happened to the man, who was standing at the other end of her door one day ago?

"You aren't afraid of life and men and you aren't any coward to attempt suicide, right?"

All she could do was look at him with those confused yet hopeful hazels and he flinched internally for what he had been putting her through, but then when had his sane mind listened to the place behind his chest which probably was the heart people talk about?

She again turned away not wanting to answer any of his questions, suddenly not quite interested to prove anything to him and all she wanted to do was go away from him as far as she could go. He held her wrist just in time yet again and pulled her back into his embrace, his eyes pouring out the utmost determination in his stance.

"Prove me wrong Khushi!" he said with his face inching closer to that of hers.

"Prove me wrong, that you aren't scared of this----" even as the words left his mouth, his hand on its own accord reached the back of her hand tugging at the band holding her pony, removing it abruptly making her hair fall behind her in curtain as the strands instantly started playing with the wind around, the sound of ocean echoing around them------ and he found himself lost in the familiar daze yet again, his eyes closed and his nose almost sniffing at her aroma.

She closed her eyes, her breathing suddenly disoriented and her hands on their own accord clutched at the rip of her collar---- "Arnav---" she said her voice barely a whisper.

He pulled away, almost rubbing his rough stubble against her cheek, all too unwillingly, his senses resuming back with determination and he met her confused hazels having the same determined look.

"Prove me wrong" he simply stated, his eyes communicating a lot more than he could voice out at the moment as she continued to just look at him, lost and dazed.

Chapter-22

Humbly accept all your chappals and sandals...for all valid reasons!

If something seemed mysterious up there other than Khushi's past that is, it will be cleared in the next update, promise!

The emotions right now evident in both of them are exactly the ones I had been aiming at to start unfolding the mystery, although I'm not really sure how did this come across.

I'd rather like to here from you, what is that, going on in each of their minds? and I would answer all your questions through my next update.

again! Please give this a little time, things will fall in place

Sorry of this was frustrating!

Love you all! :*

Last evening I completed this story n Today I got to read 21st chapter...
Dedeee U r awesome writer...I culdnt stop myself from reading the tory on n on...N Having benefit of Eid holidays,,I got to read it in one go...This story is unique in a way that Khushi's chracter is different here...The first chapter just made me flinch...for few hours,,I was unable to get the image of white body thudded on ground from a tall building...All the chapters are brilliantly written...Arnav is a complex character here...Running away all time...*actually like me,,I love to avoid problems as long as I can,,or rather I deliberatly close my eyes to a coming danger/disaster or confrontation*...thats why he keeps travelling...U have brilliantly written His feelings about Driving... when he drives n derives satisfaction from leaving things behind him...Khushi's past is a mystery...Actually pace of this story is very good...U have neither kept it too fast nor too frustratingly slow...Its normal...n I enjoyed reading every part of it...Infact I first read Ur OS LITTLE INSECURITIES N CRAVING CONFESSION...so one day when In FF Forum,I found Ur story,,I jumped to read it...
N honestly I was not disappointed...U r awesome writer...n another plus point is that U update twice a week...
Chapter twenty was an emotional roller coaster ride..Khushi's outburst or I must say her inferiority complex dominating her mind,,made me cry...That poor soul is too broken n shattered...when she allowed herself to hope,,All she get in return is a broken heart...Now her mind is convinced that things like Normalcy,,Hope n Love are just not meant for her...
P:s Am I sounding Harsh or whatever U say If I say that I felt some inner satisfaction at Arnav's outleash on Anjal for her prank...she involuntarily broke Khushi's heart adding to her complexities...
Waiting for today's chapter 21 part 2...
If u reply to comment me,,kindly infrom me by scrapping...
