Nice topic @Skep.

I am not in support of too many rules and regulation when it comes to present ones POV. I personally like to discuss on sensible topics. I enjoy healthy and knowledge based discussions unless they they turn into aggressive, baseless arguments.

But I agree with you here as in MP forum I have noticed people bashing MP or posting sarcastic comments. Don't know about other forums but in MP forum , I have seen how informative and good topics turned into personal bashing and fights.

I am late here to show my support but I'm glad to see your suggestion has been considered by DTs 😊

It's not about strict rules. But BALANCE. Attention. And Promptness in action on part of IF.

I watch all mytho and historical shows and have checked all forums but I do not find them conducive enough to post. Some forums are too restrictive that their mods will issue warnings even if you call action of "god" as unfair (bad experience during Jalandhar track in DKDM, with regard to what happened between Lord Vishnu and Vrinda - I am quoting it only as an example). And some are too free that anybody comes there, bashes characters, show and fans, openly takes digs at show's ratings and forum activity yet there is NO action or action is too late!

Why? Where is the balance?

How is it that a discussion on Buddha's birthplace escalated into insinuations about India and Nepal's modern day political disputes? As far as I know, mods did not intervene. Thankfully discussion ended itself as members left off.

On IF, at some sections (like CC and CFC) gods are bashed with people forgetting that they are not just characters in a show. On other sections, one is accused of questioning God's Divine Plan or dismissed as being "fooled" by a serial?

Where's the balance here?

There are differing accounts in mythology, history, culture. Add to it different portrayals in shows and movies. So debates are bound to be there. But shouldn't it be ensured they are allowed yet civil? Here either we are not allowed debates or they turn into personal bashing.

It's off-putting when either one is called delusional or made fun of for going into details and simply asked to enjoy the show and "let others enjoy" (wonder what this last part means! Is posting about history or mythology or a general doubt some impediment in others' enjoyment of the show?)

There's lack of patience and instinct to get into flare ups from all sides.

This is something which IF could balance out if members themselves can't help it.

Some of us like myself, use show and its forum to learn more about the subject and discuss things. Often I have noticed that despite giving disclaimers and clarifications there are problems especially in a mytho serial forum. In historical ones...I have posted stuff out of hesitation, but have been fortunate till now to have received polite response.

It's difficult for mods also. But somehow IF should find a way to ensure freedom of expression yet a basic level of civility in the way forums interact. And action needs to be swift in handling such forums and their complaints because frankly speaking it is very hard to keep patience in case of historical and mythological names.
