Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror comedy Bhoot Bangla has received a revised release date, with the makers officially shifting the film from its earlier May slot to April 2026. The announcement was shared by the actor himself on social media, putting an end to weeks of speculation around the film’s theatrical plans.
Kumar revealed the update through a short video that showed a black cat scratching a calendar page marked May 15, which then flipped to April 10, 2026. Along with the clip, he wrote, “Bhooth Bangla ka countdown rewind! ? 15 May ? 10 April ? Milte hain theatres mein 🎬”. The post quickly caught attention online, with fans reacting to the change in schedule.

While the makers have not explained the reason behind the shift, such changes are common as production houses adjust strategies around competition, holidays and audience turnout.
Bhoot Bangla marks Akshay Kumar’s reunion with director Priyadarshan after a gap of fourteen years. The duo has previously collaborated on several successful comedy films, making this pairing a point of interest for viewers familiar with their past work. The film also features Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.
The horror comedy is set around a mysterious and reportedly haunted mansion. While detailed plot information has been kept under wraps, the film is expected to blend humour with supernatural elements, a genre that has seen renewed interest in recent years. Since last year, members of the cast have shared occasional updates, building curiosity around the project without revealing much about the storyline.
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar continues to maintain a packed slate. Apart from Bhoot Bangla, he is set to appear in the action comedy Welcome To The Jungle. He is also involved in Haiwaan, which reportedly stars Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn alongside him. With multiple projects lined up, the actor remains one of the busiest names in the industry as 2026 approaches.
