CHAPTER-10.

A stunned silence followed Shlok's declaration..It was finally broken by Rohan..

"What is the proof that you are Shlok?!"The man snapped out..

As if in answer,a light came on bathing the room in its powerful orange glow.

Everyone except Shlok squinted at the sudden bright light..

Shlok removed his hand from the light switch,and slowly walked into the room,his eyes fixed on Astha..Rage building up within him,seeing her disheveled state.Then he moved his cold angry gaze at Rohan..

"Agnihotri.I am Shlok Agnihotri.You don't need more proof do you..?Rohan..?"He asked in a soft but dangerous voice.

His face was a cool mask hiding the complete burning fury within him.He already knew the reputation of the guy called Rohan Sharma..The only spoiled son of a business tycoon,who had a string of rape and harassment cases following him..All easily bailed out from due to money and power of his father.

But he was not sure of the other..Rohan had recognized him,he could tell,but he was not sure if the other had..

"What the hell does it matter whatever Agni something you are?!And why the hell you are telling us whose fianc you are?!What the f**k does it matter to us?!"The other male snapped out in a slurred voice.

Shlok clenched his hands into tight fists..

"I did not hear about your engagement.."Rohan said,thoughtfully..His eyes trying to read Shlok's face.

"We did not make it public yet..And I do not owe you an explanation,do I?"Shlok asked through clenched teeth.

"Astha come over here..I am here,you are safe.."Shlok called out to Astha,who was staring at him with rounded scared eyes..

She was not moving an inch,as if rooted to the spot itself..

Shlok strolled forward..

"Excuse me.."He said through clenched teeth,and Rohan instantly moved away,giving him wary calculated looks.

But his companion did not..Instead the drunk man,made the mistake of standing in Shlok's path and blocking his access to Astha..

"This one is my prize!I found her!"The man said in a slurred voice.

"Karan.."Rohan tried to warn his drunk friend..

"You can share her if you want to,but after I have taken my fill! of her sexy.."The drunk Karan continued,this time turning to leer at Astha,and he raised his hand to touch Astha's face..

He never finished doing it,as his hand was suddenly twisted behind his body..

With a loud yelp he was forced to turn to face Shlok again,and before he could blink,a hard punch hit him on the jaw,blowing the lights out of him..The man was still reeling from the blow when Shlok twisted his arm once again.

"Ek baar mei baat samajh mei nahi aata kya?![You can't understand what I said in one time]This girl here is Astha!And if you..or anyone else..places a finger on her..even..by mistake..I'll personally uproot each finger joint by joint..Clear?!"Shlok hissed through clenched teeth,and twisted the man's hand tighter,until a loud cracking sound of bone breaking could be heard,and the man screamed at the top of his voice in extreme pain.

But Shlok was not done.Grabbing the man by the collar,Shlok hit him another hard punch onto his jaw..

THUD!!!

The man's head crushed against the wall,and his limp unconscious body fell on the floor..

"Rohan..Take care of your friend..And teach him some manners.."Shlok snapped out,as he fixed his crease free suit.Then he turned to face Astha again,who was still standing at the same corner,with a pale white face and shocked look..

"Astha..Come on!Let's go!"Shlok grabbed her limp cold hand and pulled at her..She just stumbled and stared at him blankly,as if not really seeing him or comprehending..

Shlok's heart squeezed suddenly,her traumatized state piercing his calm faade..

"Astha..?"This time he called her softly,but still she did not react..

Seeing her woe-be -gone condition ,and traumatized state,Shlok did something he had never before done in his life.

Kneeling down he picked her up into his arms.Shlok could feel Rohan's angry glare at his back,as he walked out of the room with a completely silent and shocked Astha in his arms.

Shlok knew Astha was in no state to rejoin the party,so he carried her out of the building through a side door he knew..

His eyes constantly looking at her pale face..She was staring at his shirt button..Still not out of her shock.

Shlok's heart squeezed painfully,and he barely controlled his rage.At that moment,he felt like going back and beat the two bas***ds to pulp,like they should be beaten.The scums wearing the dress and mask of polite civil society.He thought with burning rage.

And to save Astha from that hyena he had to lie and say that she was her fianc..Cause Shlok knew if he did not give her the protection of his name,the bas***d would seek her out and finish his interrupted assault on her..Rohan Sharma was reputed for just that.Whichever girl was unlucky to catch his eye,she never got away..Shlok did not want Astha to go through that hell.He did not know why but he just felt he had to protect her..

Shlok walked out of the building towards his parked car,with Astha in his arms,when all of a sudden it started raining.

"SHIT!"He cursed loudly as he hurried towards the car.

Large drops of rain,falling on her face,pulled Astha out of her shocked numb state..She realized she was not in that creepy room anymore..She was about to sigh out when she realized she was moving without moving..

How could that be possible?!She thought in amazement when her eyes went up a broad chest in front of her and fixed on an all too familiar hateful face.

Out of the frying pan into the fire!She thought with utter dismay..From the hyenas clutches I ended up with the wolf?!What is Shlok Agnihotri doing here?!Or more precisely am I being carried in Shlok Agnihotri's arms?!WHERE IS HE TAKING ME?!IS HE TAKING ME TO ANOTHER DARKER ROOM?!Astha thought with escalating fear.Her heart beat racing,and her breathing quickened..

Shlok had almost reached his car,when Astha started squirming in his arms.

"LET ME GO!"She snapped out.

Shlok looked down at her livid face,and could not help but smile,as he realized her anger implied she was out of the shock now..

"Astha?!You are okay?!I was worried about you!Wait I'll-.."

"NO!NO YOU WON'T YOU SCOUNDREL!I WON'T LET YOU TOUCH A HAIR ON MY BODY!JUST LET GO OF ME!"She snapped out again.

Exasperated with her odd behavior,Shlok put her down and was about to let her go..When she pushed him away and was about to walk away from him,when he pulled her back into his arms.

Astha gasped out as she was whirled back into his arms,and before she knew what was happening,she found herself pinned against a car..His car,she realized.

Breathing heavily she looked up at him angrily,as he stood plastered to her body..Holding her tightly with the circle of his arms..

Mother nature was also against her,Astha thought frustratedly,as the drizzling rain turned into a heavy downpour right then.Angrily she looked up at him,piercing his dark eyes with burning fury from her hazel ones.

"I said let go-.."

"I can't..''He said in a husky voice.His dark eyes burning with an unknown fire in them..

"What?!"His insolent answer stunned and irked her more.Thinning her lips she got ready to barge into a string of slang..

"How dare you?!You scoundrel!!!You rascal!!!Let go of me right now you bast-"

"Shhhshhh..."Shlok tried to quieten her,but in vain..

Enraged Astha opened her mouth to snap again,

"You scoundrel!Let me-."

"You just don't know how to shut up!"Shlok murmured huskily,just before he stopped her talking altogether,as his lips captured hers in a searing kiss...
