Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa 🏆 has scripted yet another glorious chapter in the history of Indian chess by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Grand Chess Tour! ♟️
The 20-year-old chess sensation produced a remarkable comeback in the Grand Chess Tour Finals in St. Louis, defeating world-class Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana 15–13 in the final.
What makes his victory even more remarkable is the manner in which he achieved it. Praggnanandhaa began the final day six points behind Caruana, but refused to give up. He won both Rapid games, turning the match around, and then held his advantage through the four Blitz games to seal the historic victory.This triumph adds another major achievement to what has already been an extraordinary year for the young Grandmaster.
🏆 Norway Chess 2026 Champion--- became the first Indian to win the prestigious tournament, defeating World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen twice during his campaign.
🏆 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz Champion--- claimed his first Rapid & Blitz title in August.
🥇 Grand Chess Tour 2026 Champion ---- became the first Indian ever to lift the Grand Chess Tour trophy.
