Kriti Sanon has responded to the recent criticism surrounding her Raksha Bandhan look. The actress had faced backlash after appearing in a jewellery advertisement wearing a bralette style top while celebrating the festival. The campaign became a topic of discussion on social media and was later taken down.

A few days after the controversy, Kriti shared a glimpse of her own Raksha Bandhan celebrations on Instagram. In the picture, she can be seen holding her sister Nupur Sanon’s hand. Her caption appeared to take a lighthearted dig at the debate around her festive outfit.

Kriti wrote: While the Rakhi fashion committee is still in session ?? We’re focusing on what really matters. ???? Happy Rakhi to all.

The controversy had earlier drawn a reaction from Kangana Ranaut, who was among the first celebrities to question Kriti’s outfit. Speaking about the advertisement in an interview, Kangana said the issue went beyond what Kriti was wearing. She pointed out that the campaign did not feature several elements traditionally associated with Raksha Bandhan, including family celebrations, sweets and teeka.

Kriti, however, had defended her choice and addressed the criticism through a statement. Responding to the debate over how women should dress during traditional occasions, the actress said: When will we stop telling women what to wear?? Ethnic fashion has evolved over the years, but still a woman’s respect for her culture is measured with just her clothes!! Culture & Traditions are in her heart, not in her neckline.

Her latest Instagram post comes amid the ongoing conversation around the advertisement, with Kriti choosing to focus on her Raksha Bandhan celebration with Nupur. Rather than directly addressing the criticism again, the actress appeared to poke fun at the debate with her reference to the “Rakhi fashion committee.”
