Oh! Really!!!

People do have same parameters in naming like traditions,personal faith,horoscopes and all.The most interesting thing about naming a person is , while naming it just looks like a personal choice of parents but later on its a public issue because its the public who utter that name more!!!!

Well going by logic a name would not matter as they say a Rose by any name would still smell the same. But a sweetness of thae way it sounds adds value to it.

Similarly a name qualifying a particular attribute would only add to the value/personality of the person. Soits always nice to have a pleasing name.

It can be anything as long as it doesnt end up embarrassing the child. So for eg.. you can have name like Ambadas for a boy who is in a traditional circle but cant have a pitambardas for somebody here in the US..😊

Non-christain american names are all wierd... So u can call somebody table or a chair or april, may, june, july... or any damn thing that suits u..😆unlike in india where we have a formal naming mechanism to make sense......

As and when I will use the town name - so names like winchester, lexington,.in the true american spirit....😆.. ok i ws kidding i would pick the book of 1000 indian names on parenting .com.. and pick one only with 3 letter mono-syllable...Raj, Jai, jui...pui,....😆

To burden a child with a really odd name is unfair. The parents can atleast try to see to it that it is contemporary.

Haven't come across any weird names, however, I've heard plenty of weird surnames. What may be a beautiful name in one language or region can be considered weird or might have an odd meaning somewhere else. My name 'Soumya' is a common guy's name in Bengal pronounced as 'Soumyo' but everywhere else in India it's a girl's name pronounced as 'Soumyaa' or 'Sowmyaa'. It's all relative.

Nah, I don't think so. In our school we had one guy named Vivekananda, and he was the worst bully and obnoxious guy in the whole batch.

Do you have, or have you encountered, a st range or unusual name?

I have heard some unusual names but all of them has some meaning, so not so strange. I know one girl whose name is Nabagata, which means 'newcomer'.
