Anurag Kashyap deletes his Twitter account over The Lunchbox-Oscar fiasco?

MID-DAY (September 24, 2013)

For someone who once famously vouched for Twitter as a medium to air his views on a public forum, it comes as a surprise that Anurag Kashyap has pulled the plug on his existence on the microblogging site.

The grapevine is buzzing with rumours that Anurag's sudden death on Twitter could have something to do with the ongoing mudslinging on the social media against The Good Road, India's official entry to the Oscars next year.

Anurag and his merry band of co-producers came down heavily on Gyan Correa's Gujarati National Award winning film, accusing the Film Federation of India (FFI) of allegedly encouraging a lack of transparency in the selection process.

After months of lobbying hard around international film festivals for Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox, co-producer Anurag took to Twitter to vent his frustration at the FFI overlooking their product. In one of his tweets, he even sounded ominous, threatening his counterpart with, "... it better make it to the final five." For the filmmaker, who is a self- appointed sentinel of small- budget movies, it comes as a surprise that this issue became a bone of contention.

The director had famously also taken to Twitter to vent his ire against Salman and Arbaaz Khan when his brother Abhinav Singh Kashyap was apparently unceremoniously shown the door from the sequel of Dabangg.

When contacted, Anurag had just two words to tell us ""F*** off." Okay then.

I think these people are 'BAD LOSERS'.
They think only they can make good cinema?
They made the film for Oscars? Wahh...Kya spirit hai..

M kinda dissapointed with this attitude...

I have no doubt it might be one of the best films in Indian cinema (not seen it yet) as per the buzz around it...but that doesnt mean it is the only film around...

They are behaving as if their life has ended...

Lol for real? This uproar over The Lunchbox not getting it is really annoying me. I haven't seen either it or The Good Road so I can't comment on the films, but the way these people have handled the jury's decision has been just bad taste. Especially since none of them have seen "the gujarati film" but are quick to diss the jury on it.

And while it is unique this year that they picked a regional film, it really isn't that much of a surprise. What did they expect when the jury sent in OTT bollywood films year after year that NEVER were selected? Unfortunately the past precedence of sending in sub-par Bolly movies such as Barfi hampered The Lunchbox's chances at the Oscars. Now hopefully the mistake of sending in another Barfi will never happen again
