Synopsis
Its all about A little girl's search for her biological mother who had abandoned her as a newborn baby is brought out poignantly in A Peck on the Cheek. Amudha, adopted by Thiru and Indira and growing up with the couple's two sons, is blissfully unaware of her parentage, until the couple decides to inform her of it on her ninth birthday. At first shocked into disbelief, Amudha then expresses her determination to seek out for her biological mother. The search takes the family to strife-torn Sri Lanka, where Amudha comes face-to-face with reality, and reconciles herself to it. Music

With A.R.Rahman composition, lyrics by Vairamuthu in all 5 songs except Signore by B.H.Abdul Hameed captured everyone heart. With soothing rhythms together with awesome singers had make the songs hit before the movie list. My personal favourite is Vellai Pookal song sung by A.R.Rahman himself and Deivam Thanta Poove sung by Ravichandran and chinmayi. Vellai Pokkal song all about the world peace while Deivam Thantha Poove abou the love of the parents towards their daughter.. Each and every word shows the depth of the emotions of the characters.

My Review

An award winning movie.. Madhavan and Simran have done a exceptional job as Thiru and Indra respectively. Their kids Amutha played by P.S.Keerthana , Vinay and Akhil and together with Delhi Kumar as Indra's father.Who can forget each and every character of this movie. For the first time Madhavan potrays as a father and a very short tempered guy and the one who can pacify him is none other than Indira played by Simran Bagga. I have to admit when I got to know Simran will be acted in Mani Sir film, I have been waiting for it release.

I love the all the scenes in the movie, especially the scene that happens in car after they got to know Amudha is at Perambur Railway Station after she tried to runaway. Nobody likes to be advised.. I love the dialogues delivered by Madhavan in that scene. when he asked his brother in law, if he ever advide them how to raise their kids.. No right.. Then why he is advising him.. I dun want any free advices.. Writer Sujatha really rocks here...

And also in the same scene when Indra keep crying and Thiru asking why she is crying now, athan Amudha got found na.. I love Simran dialogue here.. Enakku azhuga varuthu naan azhuthitu poren.. Awesome..

My whole family know I am crazy fan of Simran and they always let me watch Kannathil Muthamittal whenever it aired on TV..
That what I felt of Kannathil Muthamittal..

A movie showing family relations, war consequences, A daughter longing to see biological mother, A father who juggling between his stubborn wife and stubborn daughter and a Mother who tries hard to show to her daughter, that she is their JEWEL...

Another masterpiece by Mani Ratnam !

The movie mainly walks through Amudha's perspective, but we're also given glimpses into Madhavan's and Simran's characters as well. You end up understanding them on their stances and why they do what they do.

Oru Dheivam Thantha Poove gives me goosebumps. Beautiful song <3

Awesome review !

Definetly this is must watch movie. Each and every dialogues in this movie are like a poet. My favourite scene in the movie is when the flashback of madhavan, simran comes out, madhuvan katturai will comes like a poem with Madhban voice waah what a scene it will give a osum feelings to me.

There are many favourite scenes in this film like the climax where Amutha ask more questions to Nandita das that scene we cannot sit in one place as it is having more uncomfortable situation which brings out tears from us.

Madhavan Maniratnam combination gave many great film Alaipayuthey and Kannathil Muthamittal is the epic movie they ever made it will still remember from the audience. Mani is the best in filmaking he proves in everymovie. I am confidence Many Ratnam next film he will be coming out with a bang.

I don't want to forget about A.R.Rahman music and Bgm it is one of the epic bgm. Espeically Vidai Kodu Engal naadai and it picturization is heart wrenching with the beautiful Ravi K.Chandran cinematography.

One thing I notice all the movies we made in the retro Reel for September Alaipayuthey, Kannathil Muthamittal and Kandukondein Knadukondein have got A.R.Rahman has the music director. What a coincidence and two of it is Mani Ratnam movies!!!

Wonderful movie !
I was about Amudha's age when I watched that movie for the first time and her character squarely affected me a lot. I could related myself easily to her.
That girl was so determined, that finally her willpower did make her meet her mom.

Simran and Madhavan character's are really awesome, I think no one could have done a better job than them. Simran made an awesome performance as a young girl loving Madhavan and as a Mom !
Pasupathy, Nandita Das and Prakash Raj : all did justice to their role !!

But the best is Keerthana ! Awesome performance, I think she proved she's Parthiban and Sita's daughter !

The last scene make me always cry, because it's a very beautiful scene !

A must watch movie !!!
