Nikhat should have called him back and told him the truth, not on the phone but by meeting with him person. So yes, she's at fault here as well. But still, this whole track makes my head hurt. It just doesn't make sense to me.

And just like Asad doesn't live in the same house as Nikhat, neither does Ayaan live with Najma to know her pet name.

I agree that the track leading up to Najma's engagement was pretty rushed, and yes Asad was wrong for not clarifying with Nikhat completely. As for why Najma still wants to marry Imran, well that's because she loves him. I know that sounds like retarded logic, but it really does happen. And like both you and I have agreed on, the siblings have never lived with each other to get to know each other well enough.

I too find it a bit strange that Najma doesn't mind marrying Imran despite him being Nikhat's ex-fiance, but I guess she never really grew close enough to Nikhat to care that much. In real life, even best friends take their best friend's partners, and Najma-Nikhat's relationship is much less than even that of best friends.

In fact, I agree that both Asad and Ayaan don't know their respective step siblings well enough. My point here is that while Ayaan may not know Najma well, Asad never made an issue of it. But Ayaan did make an issue about Asad not understanding Nikhat and treating her as less of a sister than he treats Najma. My point is, why can't he? Ayaan treats Najma as less of a sister than Nikhat too, so I don't see why he held that against Asad at all

I have a lot of cousins who I have never even met in my life because I don't live in India. And some of them I only speak with once or twice a year. But I would still never marry a man that did that to my cousin. Imraan had become Nikhat's dream. Najma didn't once try to console her either which is just wrong. Even if you're step sisters, cousins, friends, or distant relatives.

I don't really agree with the "tit for tat" logic. If Asad is really more mature than Ayaan (which he is), why should he make an issue of that? If someone you love and care for makes a mistake, then the logical thing to do is to move on from there, not to ruminate over it and repeat that mistake again.

Ayaan is impulsive and often times he says things without ever thinking. But Asad isn't. And that's why there is that disparity between how they react in situations. Ayaan might have made a mistake by reacting impulsively towards Asad but why should Asad make that mistake as well?

Your cousins and their families did not treat your family like dirt the way Ayaan's family treats Asad, so I don't see why Najma should sympathize. Okay maybe I just feel very strongly that Ayaan's family is very selfish themselves, but loves to put the blame on Dilshaad's family who have been nothing but understanding and trying to live their lives on their own. So I admit I have a soft spot for Dilshaad's family. I feel life has given them a lot of sadness, and if Najma is getting a little happiness now, good for her.

And there is no tit for tat here at all. I am in fact saying that Asad is the more mature one who doesn't believe in tit for tat, which is awesome and he should continue doing that. My point once again is that Ayaan is still pretty immature (whenever he gets impulsive like you say), even despite the fact that many times they show Ayaan growing up, like in this case by being the bigger person and coming for Najma's engagement. But when things take a turn for the worst, Ayaan immediately loses his cool and lashes out at Asad, knowing full well that Asad loves him too much to hold it against him. Just feel he sometimes takes advantage of Asad's love towards him.

See, even if my family was treated like dirt by my extended family, I still don't think it's right. I wouldn't do that to Nikhat if I were Najma. It's just wrong to me.
I guess Ayaan does take Asad for granted sometimes but by coming to the engagement he's proven that he's changing.

Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about the Najma issue. As for Ayaan, yup he's continually been showing signs of growing up, the engagement being yet another example. And I do hope the graph continues to grow in that direction and not regress to yet another scene where Ayaan throws the fact that they are step brothers in Asad's face. Fingers crossed!

I was just going to make a post on the whole scene right when I saw this. I completely agree with you. When Ayaan called Najma 'aloo', in my head I just went like 'idiot'. If it were me, I'd be soo embarassed for not knowing her nickname. It just really irked me. Yeah I agree they weren't raised in the same house, but him not knowing something as simple as her nickname shows he never even bothered with her. Asad has called her 'tamatar' so many times even in public.
Everything Ayaan says, he ends up contradicting himself the next second. He accused Imran of breaking Nikhat's heart and giving her false hope when he did the same exact thing to Humaira. He accused Asad of not knowing Nikhat, when he himself doesn't know Najma. Yeah it was mature of him to come to the engagement, but it was only because Asad asked him to.
The scene between Ayaan and Najma also says a lot about Najma. She told Ayaan "you've already given me a gift, you handed me all my happiness in my lap." After she said that I really felt that Najma would have definitely backed out and said no to Imran if Nikhat and Ayaan said to.

Agreed totally! Especially the bold bits. Najma would never had gone ahead with it if Nikhat or Ayaan said no.
