Actor-producer Richa Chadha has once again struck a candid chord within the film industry, urging independent filmmakers to approach her directly for collaborations, while also hinting at an episode of professional sabotage early in her career by someone she deeply trusted.
Speaking openly about her journey, Richa encouraged indie creators not to hesitate when it comes to reaching out. “Independent filmmakers often assume actors like me are inaccessible, but that’s simply not true. If the story is honest and the intent is right, I absolutely want to be part of that conversation,” she said, reiterating her long-standing commitment to meaningful, story-driven cinema.
In a rare moment of vulnerability, Richa also alluded to being undermined during her early years in the industry. Without naming names, she revealed that someone she trusted implicitly had worked against her interests at a crucial stage. “Early in my career, I realised that not everyone rooting for you is actually on your side and many are threatened and do not want you to outshine them in any way. They want you to always remain indebted to them. That experience was deeply unsettling, but it taught me to protect my voice and choices, and dnot to be so naive either” she shared.
