S urily the seductress, Soni Singh, has become serious competition for Vidya (Divyanka Tripathy), the lead in Banoo Main Teri Dulhan on Zee. "Surily is fun because of her dual personality — she's a Sati Savitri in front of the family but in reality, she's as brash as Rakhi Sawant. Viewers like her brash- ness, especially when she gives it back to Sindura (Kamya Pun- jabi). I love being the vamp." says Singh. Soni has no qualms about wear- ing revealing clothes on-screen. She states, "The role and the look demanded that I dress up in like that. I began with wearing really short dresses and then moved onto wearing salwar-kurtas and saris because I am trying to compete with Vidya. "I'ts okay to show skin. Even my Indian clothes have a western touch. I wear backless cholis and have been appreciated for them, besides my acting, " she says. Winner of the Dance-Diva title on a music and lifestyle channel, Singh boasts that she's a proficient dancer in western, Kathak and Bharata Natyam. "My dad wanted me to join the police force. But I loved to dance and wanted to make a name in this field. My mom supported my deci- sion," she says. Though she has done Tumhari Disha and Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye, it's Banoo Main Teri Dulhann which is getting her rave reviews. She is also working on a show for a Pakistan television channel. On her love life, she says, "There's very little time for love. But I recently met a guy at a party and I like him a lot. I wonder what he thinks of me. I want to get to know him better."
