Okay peeps so I just wanted to get this off my chest but I was so annoyed that I decided to make a post about it.

The Dark Skin Drama.

So it may seem off topic for now and I should have posted this at the times when Haseena used to taunt Nikhat but I don't think its too late. I always thought qubool hai was a different show but even they played the oh she's dark card.

Why? Why does a dark person have to carry the label that he or she is dark. I know the industry is not to blame fully because that's just how India is at times so that's how they portray it in serials. So does white mean pretty and dark mean unattractive? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I mean why is it that a dark person in a serial always has to be taunted, ridiculed, and made fun off. Why do they always have to have the "I'M DARK" tag. Can't they be a normal character? Can't Nikhat just be normal? Are dark people not normal?

I'm sure more than half of the population in India is composed of people with dark skin. Then why is it that such a large group is discriminated? Dark can't be pretty? GUESS WHAT: IT CAN AND IT IS!

Even in my personal experience, wherever you go people are ready to give you advice: hey use this cream, oh try this besan paste, wash yourself with this and that. WHY? I like me the way I am and I'm sure there are others that do too. If they don't then it's probably because of the way they have been treated in this society of ours.

Especially the media. All ads teach you how to be whiter. Because of course being white is being pretty. Bullshit. You can be pretty no matter what color you are. And no I'm not going to give the inner beauty lecture because you still are pretty from out if you are dark for god's sake! Imagine the world with everyone with the same color! We add variety! So never be disheartened, because you are truly gorgeous. 😊

I really appreciate how other QH characters don't hold such perspectives but still just by bringing the same old dark skin drama they proved otherwise. And how they bear all that just so Nikhat gets married. They even go back to Haseena Bi. Please, that girl deserves a hundred times better guy.

So all you brown peeps out there(myself included)

RAISE YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR
SCREAM THAT WE DON'T WANT TO BE FAIR
WE ARE HAPPY AS WE CAN BE
SO KEEP TO YOURSELF YOUR FAIRNESS STRATEGIES!

Heehee. I didn't mean to hurt anyone people. Just wanted to say all this. 😳

i know... color has always been a very serious issue here and i dont think that is just in india... personally color is not something that you choose but something that comes to you from your forefathers. why should anyone feel sorry about it?
i know in the show they've gone a bit overboard about this issue. but i simply cant deny the fact that it doesn't happen. the first thing that any boy looks for in a girl he is gonna marry is color. this pains me to say it. but i've seen my friends my own age biased by this color.
honestly i just pity them. they've just this screen in front of them that doesn't let them look beyond the skin tone. i am not just talking about the inner beauty here. they refuse to look for the beauty in that dusky, chocolaty tone.
i have a dusky tone and i think it's sexy just because... i mean it is like chocolate. honestly i feel nikhat is one of the most beautiful women on the show
i don't think people have grown that open minded here about anything for that sake, color, dress etc etc. and we must accept the fact that is just plain ignorance.

actually i ve gone through something like that. my husband is very fair and i am wheatish complexioned. his grandmother used to keep on telling that acchi ladki hai par gori nahi hai. not that i let it bother me.i dont believe in using fairness creams and am happy with whatever colour i am. but it is true that people do make a big issue about colour.

Do not despair as only the very shallow people judge someone thru colour. I have had some very very beautiful girlfriends who were dark skin in school. I use to admire their features and found them really pretty.

You cant blame QH for portraying the dark skin card cause at the same time they wanted to show how shallow Bhaseena is. If not for that card we would not have hated her so much and on a personal note i think Nikhat is a very beautiful girl and she is going to find someone who is going to Love her very much.

Billo Rani is so fair but what is the point dil to akhir kala he hai na. Razia is so fair and unka be dil kala hai.

my bf always teases me about my colour because I am light brown and I absolutely hate it even though he is just joking. I love my colour and I am proud of it as it represents me being indian. I always find it funny how India has an obsession with being fairer and Western nations have an obsession with being more dusky and tanned. Just goes to show you we are never happy with what we have. Nikhat is beautiful and so is Najma. Skin colour can never be a reflection of true personality or inner beauty.Thankfully I live in Canada and the culture here is much more accepting.

You're right, it's absolutely ridiculous that this dark vs fair thing is STILL an issue even today. I think it's an issue in most foreign cultures, middle eastern, south asian, pretty much on our side of the world.
Even in my family I have heard my aunt talk about people and how good looking they are and then adds "he/she is sooo white..he/she is soo good looking" basically associating good looking and white together, and when I see the person I'm like seriously? It doesn't help that even today media promotes whiteness creams and such constantly. Many girls are influenced by media and celebrities, so when they see it being promoted, they want it. People need to start embracing their skin and features.
Here in the U.S people love tanned skin. I know so many girls who are constantly going to the tanning salon to be darker and get our skin complexion, and the guys here LOVE tanned/dark skinned girls, to them its exotic and beautiful. If only our culture could see that.
And the whole NIkhat's family bearing all the insults about her skin color just so she can get married, is another issue that annoys me. Unfortunately, regardless of skin, many times we see a girls family has to pretty much bow down to the guy's side and do whatever they want. I've seen it happen so many times. And them saying "oh woh larkay wale hain"..um so what if they're the boys side?

rightly put forth...
I think it is the lady of a household who brings in this dark
skin issue..because a mother would want her daughter to be
fair nahi ladka nahi milaga..or she would not want to hear taunts from her other family members. ..neighbours
or young sister is fairer than the elder ...so they would say that she will not get married till you get. .
even the mil compares between the various bahus...
indian mentality hai..pahlay ghar may samaj aayi tho hi desh ka kuch kar sakthay hain..
GRASS IS ALWAYS GREEN ON THE OTHER SIDE..
oh the fairness cream should be BANNED FROM BEING ADVERTISED. ..
