India has made great strides in many fields in the modern times but the socio-cultural heart of India is still shackled in the dark ages. Hence a woman prioritises family over her 'self '.

True!
I don't know how it's happening in India, but as far as we see from Hindi serials its always the female who suffers and sacrifice herself for the honour of their families, but aren't the males belong to families? Don't they have any part in keeping up the pride of the family?
