Sarre Jahan se accha Hindusitan humara... Hum bul bule hain iski yeh Gulsita humara

Our independence day is approaching on coming Thursday. All of us have heard about how we got freedom and the stories of our Freedom Fighters. We IF and CIDians are here with a same feeling we like emotion and passion of our team for their country...

I am opening this discussion thread to discuss various aspects like

  1. What we feel for our country?
  2. What are we doing for our country?
  3. What can we do for our country?
  4. What irritates the most in our country?
  5. What we love the most in our country?
  6. You can share Poems, quotes, thoughts, write ups, picture or anything else

Lets celebrate this independence day in a bit different way...

Poem by Ram Prasad Bismil One of my favorite freedom fighters

I am sure you have heard it since Childhood

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai
Dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qaatil mein hai

aye watan Karta nahin kyun doosra kuch baat-cheet
Dekhta hun main jise woh chup teri mehfil mein hai
Aye shaheed-e-mulk-o-millat main tere oopar nisaar
Ab teri himmat ka charcha ghair ki mehfil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Waqt aanay dey bata denge tujhe aye aasman
Hum abhi se kya batayen kya hamare dil mein hai
Khainch kar layee hai sab ko qatl hone ki ummeed
Aashiqon ka aaj jumghat koocha-e-qaatil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Hai liye hathiyaar dushman taak mein baitha udhar
Aur hum taiyyaar hain seena liye apna idhar

Hum to ghar se nikle hi the baandhkar sar pe kafan
Jaan hatheli par liye lo barh chale hain ye qadam
Zindagi to apni mehmaan maut ki mehfil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Yuun khadaa maqtal mein qaatil kah rahaa hai baar baar
Kya tamannaa-e-shahaadat bhi kisee ke dil mein hai
Dil mein tuufaanon ki toli aur nason mein inqilaab
Hosh dushman ke udaa denge humein roko na aaj
Duur reh paaye jo humse dam kahaan manzil mein hai

Wo jism bhi kya jism hai jismein na ho khoon-e-junoon
Toofaanon se kya lade jo kashti-e-saahil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai.
Dekhna hai zor kitna baazuay qaatil mein hai.

I will just write a very personal experience...when my batchmates and I first joined an IT company, our first ambition was to go abroad! After several failedattempts, I got my chance to go to USa few years ago (don't ask for details). It was just for 3 months...and not really the way I wanted it to be...still...it was the US, so I went.
I landed in a place which was a village with no public transport. It had one supermarket and 4 taxis to cater to the needs of the whole village. All the 4 taxi drivers knew me. 😆 because only newly landed Indians used taxi there. Everyone had their own cars. After a stage I was advised against going alone in the taxis too...safety reasons, you know.
I only had local channels to see because Indian channels were too costly and needed a 1 year or more commitment, which I couldn't give.
There were very few Indians...and the people in my building only knew Spanish (not even English). I was terribly homesick.
Once during a long weekend I had nothing to do, so I was channel surfing...and there came DDLJ...the title song saying 'ghar aaja pardesi tera des bulaye re'. I actually started crying hearing that...wondering what I was doing in this hell where I had no one to talk to, no Hindi movies, nothing.
The day I got back my return ticket wasmy happiest day in the US. 😆
For some reasons I had to land in Mumbai. I landed in early July when it was pouring. My relatives came to pick me at the airport at midnight and we started off home in a rickety fiat taxi on roads full of potholes. That moment I fell in love with Mumbai...that feeling 'wow, I am home' hit me. 🤣
I don't know about others, but I am happy only in India. Others love going abroad, living that lifestyle, the money, the pollution-free environment, facilities...everything. But I can never appreciate it. For me it's '<font face="Comic Sans MS">Sarre Jahan se accha Hindusitan humara'. My friends who are abroad laugh at me...but I am like this. 😆</font>

I remember, in 7th grade, our class was supposed to perform on this song for independence day.I was, obviously, given the role of a foreigner😔..a tourist who has come to india and is getting impressed by its various elements 😃
Well again my personal expirience,
Last year, in the London olympics, i went to participate in this cultural programme organized in the park named 'Mini India'😃
It was a huge success, which left all us indians there very proud. It basically had events like cultural and bollywood dance, serving of indian cuisines, tea and coffee, art etc.It was a lovely place to be in.I was indeed lucky to be a part of it.It was nice seeing how much importance and respect our culture and traditions is given overseas.😊

For me it has always been Hindustan. I'm Canadian. Canadian-born, Canadian-bred, and probably will live in Canada for the rest of my life.

But whenever I see an Indian somewhere or when I see someone who has come fresh from India I feel like rushing to talk to them. When I was working at the university, and we used to help prospective students in entering the university, I always managed to end up with those students who had just come from India and Pakistan and somehow our conversation would end up beginning in Hindi and we would talk for hours sometimes. And that's when I would feel so attached to India even though I'm born so far away.

So Vande Mataram and Jai Hind!

Noor Alam
... nd aftr read some strong feelings
develop in my mind...so i want to share
a poem with u
Sundar hai jag me sabse, naam bhi
nayara hai
Woh desh hamara hai, woh desh
hamara hai
Jaha jati-bhasha se badh kar Desh-
Prem ki dhara hai
Woh desh hamara hai, woh desh
hamara hai
Jita tha prem se sabko, hai "Baapu" us
ka naam
Desh ke khatir jisne kiya apna jeewan
balidan
Jaha pe vir Bhagat, Azad aur "Bose" ka
nara hai
Woh desh hamara hai, woh desh
hamara hai
Jaha pe "Suraj" puja aur nadion me
mata Ganga
Chandrama pe lahraya jisne apna
dhwaj "TIRANGA",
Vishv ko jisne ZERO dekar kiya navyug
ka ujiyara hai,
Woh desh hamara hai, woh desh
hamara hai
Jo sadion se aaj bhi har rishte se pyara
hai
Sincha jisko khun se humne aur
mamta se sawara hai
Jaha Ajuba hai vishv ka, kehlata "TAJ"
humara hai
Woh desh hamara hai, woh desh
hamara hai
Jis desh ko "Mata" keh ke hum sab ne
diya samman
Wo hai Bharat desh mahan, wo hai
Bharat desh mahan
