I had read it somewhere, that in deference to Jodha's religious and cultural leanings, Akbar used to eat Vegetarian Food once a week, that was cooked in her palace kitchen.

Jodha's discomfort in feeding Akbar Chicken had probably to do with the fact that she was a practicing vegetarian but at the same time, could not refuse her husband, at least not infront of the whole world!
