This is a question resulting from a random thought that I am sharing with you guys. Basically, I am thinking out loud here...
In terms of TRPs, Sanaya's previous show was not spectacular but when it comes to popularity among viewers especially the international audience, it could easily top the chart. So we could safely say that the show worked in favor of the lead actors. The followers of the show including myself firmly believed that most of its popularity was a consequence of the unparalleled chemistry between the lead pair. This was a valid assumption given that the show was not one of its kind in the history of Indian TV.
Now that I think back about the issue, there was so much more to it. Like someone closely connected to the show had made a blog post or something pointing out to the audience that the people behind the stage deserve as much appreciation as the lead actors. And everyone was appreciated except one person, the producer. She was bashed left, right, and center based on some rumors, accusations, and allegations against her. I am not at all intending here to defend her or anything but I must point out that an insult hurled at her has proven wrong big time. It was said that neither she nor her show is worth anything save her lead actors. Based on this firm belief, it was even concluded that the PH is doomed to failure.
In sharp contrast, the producer proved with her show Qubool Hai on Zee TV that she has it in her. When the show started, I did not imagine in my wildest dreams that it would be one of the top shows consistently for a considerable period of time. I personally did not follow the show because it could not keep my interest but this doesn't take anything away from its success or popularity.
My sister pointed out that a characteristic feature of Gul Khan's shows is that the lead pairs are all that matter which according to her makes the show super annoying for a person who is not an ardent fan of one of the two actors at least. This is because the plotline with all the other actors/characters on the show is not well developed since the goal is to have the lead pair always remain in the limelight. She explained this is why she gave up on SI's previous show after a certain point. Even though it did not click to me before, I must say that I so agree with her observation. Had SI not been the lead actress, I would have not even began watching the SP show. And even if I did, it wouldn't get further than 50 episodes at most just like it happened in the case of QH.
But again, this doesn't take anything away from the fact that GK's shows do extremely well among the young audiences and they end up being popular. The mindset of the creatives in ChanChan team is evidently very different. They intend to foreground the family drama as they've shown in their previous shows too. Very Ektaish in that sense. So GK has created this niche for herself that ChanChan's PH will not offer Sanaya.
Given that GK has explicitly shown her fondness for and belief in Sanaya in an interview and the fact that SI was actually offered another show by the same PH, my question is would you mind seeing SI working with GK again after ChanChan wraps up (which I hope doesn't happen in another two years at least!)?!
I am confused about the answer and I'll make up my mind after I read your views on this.
