Can I just say that i LOVE Jodha?
Beautiful. Dignified. Sweet-tongued. Classy. Moralistic. Compassionate and every inch a stunning human being on the inside.
She is winning hearts already. The baandeez wanted to get a glimpse of the much-talked-about Rajput Begum. Hameeda Bano has fallen in love with her new Bahu Begum and is fast becoming a loving mother figure who wants to take care of Jodha like a baby. Maham Anga and even Ruqaiya are feeling the heat.
I am especially proud of her today - because while she fulfilled all duties of a royal queen , of a committed wife and an honourable princesss- doing the Nikaah with a bowed head , wearing the dress that Hameeda brought for her, participated in the Jashan without knowing what it held for her, standing up in Akbar's honour , feeding him with sweets as is the ritual, and singing as per his orders...COMMITMENT.
Yet... you cannot take the Rajput Heat out of her. She calmly humiliated Ruqaiya twice. She mildly but firmly wriggled her hand out of Jalaal's hands. She sang the glory of Rajput warriors without worrying how much the Mughals would hate her.
And then, she slept in horror , getting Jalaal's nightmares. Yes, she is scared of Jalaal but that fear is inferior to her warrior brave spirit.
Yes, Jodha has created a lot of enemies -maybe she is even scared a wee bit. But that spirit of hers triumphs over everything.
Jalaal? He is burning. Watch his face when Ruqaiyaa tells him that Jodha cares two hoots about him. It does hit him and very soon Jodha's rebellion and indifference is going to throw Jalaal off the edge - and that will be his first introduction to the state when "you are no longer in control of your own"- that is usually the genesis of FEELINGS. 😳
