Hi all,
I am totally new to India forums...But I have been watching Qubool Hai from day 1. Love love love this show!
So here goes my Hi to everyone here! read some posts already and loved them. Look forward to posting and reading about this fab show.
My 2 cents :
Qubool hai, first of all, is a very unique show. Not that the leads or the romance and the jodi is unique, but the concept. Very few shows are based around Muslim culture and families. Heena was the last one where Rashid Miyan ( Vaquar Sheikh) was the lead :P However, this show takes it further by making it more modern and more suited to today's times. The constant struggle between age old thinking and a more come of age thought process. The balance between traditional views and a modern outlook. Beginning of Asad Ahmed Khan and Zoya's interaction was based on how men think of women and what is wrong with that thinking. It was very very well done. It wasn't stepping out of boundaries of cultural values, nor was it regressive in which Zoya changes the way she behaves and dresses because of Asad. It was a great balanced view that she taught him some more progressive ways of looking at things and he taught her a little bit of mellowing down and restrain in actions.
Their nokjhok was adorable. I loved Angry-Arrogant-Akdu-Lonely Mr Khan slowly become a happier-nicer-sweeter-caring lover. I loved Chulbuli-Careless-immature Ms. Farooqi turn into a shy-mature-strong lady love to asad. It wasn't changing a person, but moulding them with you. That is what I like. zoya and Asad never changed their core personalities to be with the person they love. They simply moulded here and there to fit as one. Most shows do a complete personality turn around which I don't like at all. This was shown so realistically, as love often does this, where you adapt to another person's needs and wants and become flexible to accomodate to make the person you love happy.
I love zoya's character. She is like Geet but also not like Geet. Zoya retains her happy-go-lucky chirpy self through all situations and is never as stupid as Geet was shown to be about life choices. Zoya is smart, and more of a steady headed girl where matters of the heart are concerned. Even when Asad apparently cheats on her ( what she thinks), she simply takes a month off to get herself in order, but when she realizes his truth, she comes back with the same vivaciousness as before, with not a scar having affected her personality. Geet came back too mellow and depressed after her Shimla sabbatical. Zoya came back as herself. More resolved to get Tannu caught than before. No giving up on situations. Also, evertime Asad yelled at Zoya, or caused her pain by accusing her wrongly, or saying hurtful things, she wept a little, but after he apologized, she never lengthened the fight by nagging him or taunting him. She would immediately give her dimpled smile and forget all the crap with another crazy shayari. In that sense, she is not like the typical girls who take things to heart and are so hard to please and manao. She is in fact the most easy going lead and most adorable ever lead on a show in a long time. No rubbish rona dhona and making sacrifices. She fights, for love, for what she thinks is right and for what she wants. At the same time, she is not a bitter and hateful person, she accepts people with their flaws and she retains her cheery self even in hard times. How could Mr. Jahaanpanaah six packs not fall for this one? :P
Asad, is another very interesting character. I may be biased about him, but that is because of the very handsome KSG ( in this show he really is made to look good, what with the suits, the cropped hair, the intense eyes and the stubble, ufff) and because I love intense, broody kind of men with their issues ( not in real life but on shows, I prefer an angry young man to a cheesy lover any day). But Asad with his difficult childhood, what with a father that left them, with a half brother he brought up like a parent, and with the responsibility of his mom and sister from an early age. Watching his mom struggle being a single parents, while shedding tears for the father she loved. And a half brother who he grew to love, who was taken away by the very father he hated. Can imagine the loathe for relationships and people on the whole and his sole concentration on work and keeping his mom and sis happy. His complex personality, one side where he acts akdu to everyone, keeps all sorts of relationships at bay, has a very strong yet traditional outlook, but at the same time, loves his mom and sis to death, and his baby brother ayaan who he looks out for all the time. A man who is strong on the outside, but a jelly when any emotion takes over him strongly. ( as we saw him when he thought he had broken Zoya's trust or recently when he wants to spoil Zoya- what a jelly bean he became :P)) I loved how Zoya turned his world into a happier and livelier space. She said things his mom and sis had never the gall to say, she did not change him, just opened him up to life and people. I loved how he gradually softened towards her, after reprimanding her for things she hadn't done and then finding out her true intentions. He even became more easy on his mom and sis. The loved Asad who would move the heavens to make Zoya smile, is a treat these days. Although, I prefer the far off intense eye locks and the stolen glances, more than the upfront romance. :P But I am simply happy after all that, they are finally together. Let ASYA enjoy this space please CV's. I am loving romantic Asad and shy Zoya. What a flip around :P
I saw very little of Dil Mil Gaye, but I did not like the over cheesy character that KSG played and I found him a little nauseating to watch then ( please don't bash me for this, it is an old opinion). However, in this show, he brings it up many a notch on the acting front. It's also his character that gives him so many different shades to enact to one man. His emotional scenes to his romantic scenes and his intense eyes all do the trick well. Def def deserved the award. Surbhi Jyoti is excellent in her portrayal of vivacious and adorable Zoya. She excels in all those chirpy scenes and is confident in romantic and emotional sequences too. Love their chemistry and love watching them both together!
Love the new ayaan, and his acting is amazing. Loved him in the movie Lootera as well! :) The supporting cast is great too. Ayaan-Humeira is very cute now, and hope they evolve this story more.
Please don't bash me for this post. This is just my opinion, I am here only because I love Qubool Hai, love the leads and would love to read your posts and comments about this common love for the show :) Don't mind my long post!
