The India I left behind!

I have been staying abroad for some time now. The India I left behind had people with some solid values. Families had their ups and downs, quarrels and gossips. But what is shown in the serials these days is unimaginable. Is this what My Dear India has become? Now according to the serials no relation is sacred. A missed phone call breaks a marriage, a devar marries a bhabhi, a sister has illicit relations with her own jijaji! (UGH!) , people divorce but stay together, family quarrels go to such an extend that people are murdered like ants, no one works but talk is of millions of rupees, people are so heavily made up all the time that it appears that there is a party going on day in and day out! parties are thrown to celebrate the breaking of marriages!(huh!) , people divorce and people marry at the drop of a hat, getting pregnant and having a miscarriage is buying an icecream and dropping it! (😡). The list is endless. What has happened to my India! the country where people struggled to live but were so loving. Respect was given to elders. Money was scarce and children were taught the value of money! Now it seems that all children are living the life of filmstars. Looking at the news and serials now I feel that the whole India I knew and loved is lost somewhere in the ocean of wealth throwing away real values that make a person an Indian in the process! Are people in India really living like this????????????

😭 😭 😭 I was not born in India so i don't know how the India was, but my Uncles and Aunts are there and i visited them 3 years back, I don't think the Indian value and family system has changed. Its just that in Ektaa Kapoor's world she protrays RELATIONSHPS in the worst way ever, Very fake, ignorant, arrogrant, greedy, lustfull, and stupid protrayals of serials. Yeah comeone who throws a party like 3 times a weeek, the actress are 4 months pregnant but don't even look like there pregnant.🤢 All Indian serials in one way oor the other are copied, When Jassi JAise .... hit the tv, people loved it here was the first time an actress went right into the character wearing braces, thick glasses, salwaar kameez covering her whole body except her wrists. Mona Singh used to actually step out in parties and awards wearing the Jaise look, most people thought that's how she looked, but were so shocked when there found out that she was just protraying the character to the T. 👏
After the immense sucesss of Jasse JAise (Thank God this was not an Ekta kapoor serial) 85% of the other serials had the same story line, the main actess is always shown as MIDDLE CLASS, with very good values. 👏

I don't think the Indian value system has changed, just the stupidity of the Indian Tv serials is increasing day by day. 😡

Yeah, I agree sometimes what is shown does not make any sense, but it is not like the english/american shows are totally rinsed with soap. FRIENDS, which was like a cult show had everyone sharing relationships with one another. There is one show called Passions, where a mother-in-law has a relationship with her son-in-law and all that. So, it does happen everywhere. The point is to get people to watch it. Whatever that happens in a show does not necessarily replicate real life.

I perfectly understand what you mean. But honestly its silly to think EKTA serials depict the truth . I think its all about TRPs... and she gives audience what she thinks SELLS. And people watch it and seem to enjoy it too.

To think thats the truth is incorrect. The problem arises only if REAL people start imitaing REEL people by getting influenced by the CRAP she shows. I don't watch the serials because they mock the very existence of social relationships.

Ekta serials are totally disgusting in my opinion. The only two serials I found were tolerable were Hum Paanch and Kutumb ( the first one)..

I do agree with all of u...but for Indian kids growing up in different parts of the world, not actually knowing what the real India is like, they look at these TV Serials and Hindi Movies to see what India is like and the values it holds and they recieve a different idea then what it is all about. We know that it is fake and that our valus are more then what is on TV but we should hold TV Serials acountable. We tell our kids that the Indian Value is much more then the American Value but then they see the Indian MTV....The kissing and so on in the movies now...and the TV Serial were the sister has a ONS with her brother in law....does not help us raise good heathly Indian Kids.....Ekta should be accountable to all this not just the bottom line....

people should take serials for serials they are dramas so people should realise they do it for audience attention...i do not get it when people moan and just watch it..as for ekta why her shows always in top 5 if people do not like them? ...as for india and what drama shows some extent it is true view but at the same time you gotta realise its not 100% true..i have been shocked by some of the things i saw in india half of the stuff not seen in uk so do not get it when people try to make india into a perfect country ..i love the country do not get me wrong but its not perfect.

Relax sweetheart! India ho ya Fiji ho, Indian values are very much scared n intact! But, unfortunately, people nowadays are getting so much influenced by western culture, that they don't seem to care about the true meaning of Indian culture. Ours is the only culture where one could truly say that abhi bhi ladkiya shaadi se phele don't get intimate!

What mai shows on screen is just to make ratings go up n make big bucks, regardless of the influence n the message the show is sending out! People are oviously know that these things are for ratings.
