I dislike Hollywood but Bollywood should try adopting things from Hollywood, they are open for actresses who are even 50+. Acting takes over the age. But here is Bollywood we are being Hypocrites by Importing "Non-Desi girls" and abandoning our "Gems". The Non-Desi girls i believe cannot persist in Bolly for a Long period of time. At this rate Bolly is certainly fading away!

I agree with you totally on this but to be fair Hollywood seems to look for or create more and better stories for women of a variety of ages. Look at Sex And The City---there were women of ALL ages in that and they were representative of DIFFERENT sorts of women, not just hot 20 year old club babes.
The Devil Wears Prada had a wonderful and MAJOR role for a strong mature woman.

Bollywood writers just don't seem to be into writing those roles and when they do you can hear the whining from Mumbai to San Francisco from people who complain and moan because "she's not HOT!" or "She looks OMG...35!!!! How terrible!!!"

And that's from WOMEN. Pathetic young women who don't seem to realize that by spouting such regressive crap they are signing their own death warrant!

There needs to be support not just from Bollywood itself (and well written screenplays) but from an audience that's willing to find value in different kinds of stories and to appreciate more about stars than youthful looks.

this is so true and such a sensible post- i am honestly impressed!

well ayesha is gorgeous- and man she can act so well and so young! her chubiness makes her so unique and she is such a relief in the world of plastic anorexic girls!

dia is so darn pretty! look at her in RHTDM- i was certain during miss india that she would be go the highest among lara and PC as she had the perfect looks but im shocked how she could never make it big- she was so pretty in RHTDM uff! but she lacked screen presence and dancing etc- but ayesha pretty much had it all!

That's why I prefer Hollywood over Bollywood.

They treat their women just wrong.

That is why I also prefer Hollywood, where they make movies for both genders and give equal focus in the romance movies.

Will bollywood ever be able to make movies like " Resident Evil" or Underworld, where the primarily focus is on women or Devils wears Prada etc.

Mostly in those movies that I mentioned, the actresses were in their mid or late 30's.

I agree Bollywood is so unfair when it comes to casting 30+ actresses. Some of these actresses are more talented than the present lot

Bollywood has always been unfair to women .Bollywood has always been unfair to talent ..You either have to be sexy for flower pot roles or extremely lucky to be like Vidya balan ..I really feel sorry for Ayesha the most ...She is a brilliant actress ,so underrated and underutilized
