LOVE IN THE AIR
PART -9
" Maan, actually I came here to tell you something. " she said, grabbing his attention. He looked up from his file, eying her questioningly.
" Yes Geet.? "
" I actually, got a job " she said, enthusiastically. Maan was happy hearing her, while on the other hand it also bothered him that she might go away, now that she has a job.
" Wow Geet, congratulations. " he said, holding out his hand. Congratulating her, he also wanted to ask her, if she is moving out too but didn't have it in him to bring up the topic.
" Won't you ask me where.? ' she said, disappointed by his disinterest. Maan was surprised, looking at her eagerness to tell him about it. Should he know this.!?? Shrugging his silliness off, he apologetically smiled at her.
" Ohh sorry Geet. I was just busy reading this file. Work stuff. So yeah, where did you get a job.? " he asked, trying his best to maintain a cool.
" Khurana constructions " she said, in her usual chirpy way. Maan for a second felt like, the earth beneath him would collapse. Did he hear her right.? Did she say, Khurana constructions.? His Khurana Constructions! He gaped at her, with his mouth hanging open. Geet cleared her throat several times, confused with his expressions but he was not ready to come out of this shock. Getting irritated, she poked him.
" Maan.! What happened.?? Arent you happy.!!? " she asked. Embarrassed, he shook his head, and asked her again.
" Geet, did you just say that you are joining KC.? " he asked still surprised, not able to believe his ears.
" Yes Maan, I did.! I just got my appointment letter today. But I am surprised, how come you didn't know about it. Aren't you the one who runs KC.?? " she asked raising an eyebrow as well as giggling. Embarrassed, Maan laughed at his own carelessness.
" I do.! But I don't keep track of every name, who has been hired in KC.! Much more work to do you know " he said smiling.
" I can understand. But why did you look so shocked when I told you about it."
"Actually I never thought that you could join KC. How come you never mentioned it before.? "
" I didn't want you to know before getting through. Actually even I didn't know that I was gonna come and stay here, but all thanks to my aunt and uncle I came here and I applied to KC long back, even before coming here. Then I got called for an interview, so I thought I might get hired, so they decided to send me here to your place. So now I am a part of KC " she said enthusiastically.
" Yup, by the way welcome to KC.! " he said with a genuine smile on his face.
" Thanks a lot Maan. Well then, I'll get going, you have to pack too. All the best for the trip. I guess I will be seeing you after a month. " She said, with a bit of disappointment, even she didn't know why...
" I am almost done. Thanks a lot. Well, I'll try to come early if my work is done. " he said, hopefully that she will be happy.
"Great.! Good night..! " she said leaving when Maan called out again.
" Geet. "
" Yes.? "
" You are still going to stay here right.?? " he asked, hoping she would say yes.
" Ofcourse Maan. Where am I gonna go.?? My aunt,uncle and Dadimaa won't let me go anywhere. Why.? "
" Well, just like that I thought you might move out, now that you got a job. But hey, not what I want you to.!! By the way, is Yash still there.? " he finally asked the question bothering him.
" Nope, I will not be allowed to live alone.! And Yash, he has gone back. He just came to wish me and check on me. Nothing much, he has his own work. " she said causally, making Maan more then happy. He would have screamed, if it was according to him.
"Okay. " he said, smiling but actually elated.
" Well, good night Maan and happy journey. " she said.
" Good night, all the best for your first day. I'll come back and check on you and your work miss Handa " he said, winking.
" Sure Sir. Hope, you will not disappointed. " she said giggling.
" Bye Geet.! "
" Bye Maan. " she said and left a elated Maan in his room. He regretted his decision of taking up the London work in a hurry. His thoughts wandered again and again that he missed the fact that Geet joined KC, while he would have been the one to sign her letter. Shrugging off his questions, he decided to ask Adi about it later once he comes back. He couldn't back out from the trip now, so he just decided to return quickly completing his work. Finishing up his packing he went to Daadis room, telling about the latest happy news he received. Daadi was happy seeing him smile his heart out. Taking her blessings, Maan came back to his room, to have a peaceful sleep. Next morning, he left for London, while Geet prepared for her first day at KC. After having breakfast with Daadimaa, she too took her blessings and went towards KC. Upon insistence by Daadimaa, Geet unwillingly went in a car to KC. Upon arrival, she got a weird bunch of looks from the other people as she was in a car that belonged to the Khuranas. She nervously got down the car, and entered the building walking towards the place she was called to. Soon Adi joined her and briefed her about the work.
" Geet you will be working under Maan sir, for now he is not there. But you will have to handle the work till he comes back, cause he will ask you for the update. " Adi said laughing in his usual way.
" All alone!.? And moreover I will have to report to Maan.!? " she asked nervously, to which Adi raised an eyebrow. She immediately realized her mistake and corrected herself.
" I mean Maan sir. " she said, biting her tongue. Though she knew Maan, still he would be sir for her.
"Don't worry Geet, we are here to help you. " Adi said giving her a comfortable smile.
" Well, well well, look who is here. Isn't this the girl who came in MK's car.!?? Who are you.??" said a short girl, with commendable looks and sky high arrogance. She gave a look of disgust to Geet, which irked her off instantly. Geet glared at the girl, for behaving so rudely.
" Sasha please. She is new here. Don't bother her. She is going to work under Maan sir" Adi said, giving Sasha an irritated look. Geet all the while, was glaring at her.
" So what.?? What was she doing in Mks car.?? Oh, may be she is another charitable case who was helped by him. " asked said and mocked Geet.
"How do you know it was MKs car, Ma'am?? Do you clean it everyday that you know it in and out. Why can't it be my own car.? I can come and go anyway I wish to, and I dont think you know me so well yet, that you decide on my behalf of what I am.!! " Geet said, sarcastically with anger spitting out in every word, draining the color out of Sasha's face. Adi laughed hearing her while Sasha was fuming, and left the place with another girl.
" Is she always like this.!? " Geet asked Adi, to which he just nodded.
" Just ignore her. And Tasha ofcourse. " he said.
" Tasha.!? " she asked confused, to which Adi just pointed to the girl behind Sasha who just left. Geet chuckled and nodded.
" So Geet, you will find the files you need to complete on Maan Sir's desk. Start working on them, ask me if you need any help " he said smiling.
"Thanks Adi sir." She said and walked towards Maans cabin. Upon entering, she could feel him in there. Everything was perfect at its place, flawless; just like Mr.Maan Singh Khurana preferred. She chucked, thinking about how they made his room a mess. Her gaze fell on the couch, lying in the room and all the memories from their sleepless night came flashing in front of her, making her giggle to herself. She was oblivious, to the person standing outside the room, and watching her smile to herself in Maan's, while fuming too. Coming out of her memories, she walked towards his table, looking for the files. She caught his photograph and his ever dazzling smile, she couldn't help but smile herself, confused at her own behavior. Fishing out the files, she walked out of the cabin towards her own which was right next to Maans. She worked on the files sincerly, occasionally freaking out and running to Adi for help. With great effort, she managed to complete a lot of files for the day.! After a tiring day, she left the office for home where Daadi was waiting for her, ready to hear about her first day at KC. After a round of gossip and a humour round, Geet and Daadimaa had dinner and proceeded towards their rooms for the might. Tired as she was, Geet slept off instantly getting ready for another bright morning.
