Finally the truth is out of what made arjun take this step to astray himself from his closed ones.The phyically handicapped person always have this in mind that he/she will be a burden to the closed ones even if they aren't but his hiding is well justified.But yes from a wife's POV its not & is difficult to pardon as well.Well lets see how does Aisha handle this situation when she comes to know the truth.

I have not been well, whence the delay in these comments. I had typed out a long response,but I have managed to lose it, and I simply do not have the energy to try and reproduce that text. So here is the gist of it.

Varma was not legally wrong in accidentally causing the death of the contract killer. He would have been in the clear even if he had gone to the police.

He was legally wrong in letting Jacob dispose of the killer's body instead of going to the police. But his deep distrust of the police after what had happened to his real son stops him from doing so. Such distrust of the police is common in much of the world and it is endemic in India, to the despair of honest and sincere police officers. So Varma does not want to risk the patient's life anew by going to the police. Fair enough, even it makes him liable to be arrested if his fraud is discovered.

As for keeping his patient's real identity - which he learns quite early from Jacob- secret from his colleagues and his family, Varma's decision here is that of a grieving father who does not want to let go of this substitute son. This might seem unacceptable. But the fact is that Arjun Rawte endorses this decision of Varma's completely, and so it has post facto justification.

So Varma is not morally wrong or technically punishable for anything he did.

This said, let me congratulate you on very well written and extremely useful chapter. This backstory was badly needed,
