On Wednesday evening, Arjun Kapoor celebrated his 28th birthday with his friends and co-stars from the industry. The party, which was hosted by Arjun's cousin Sonam Kapoor at her Juhu residence, went on till the wee hours of the morning. But the surprise guest was Priyanka Chopra, who made her

first public appearance after the demise of her father, the late Dr Ashok Chopra.

A source close to the actor reveals, "Arjun's mother, the late Mona Kapoor, and Priyanka's father were good friends. They met socially years ago and gradually became friends. And when Arjun invited Priyanka for the party, she decided to attend it for two reasons, her friendship with the actor (they are co-stars in the upcoming film, Gunday, which also stars Ranveer Singh) and the friendship their parents shared."

The source goes on to add that while Priyanka has refrained from making any sort of public appearance after her father's demise and has completely immersed herself in work, she did make an exception this time.

"She came straight from the shoot of her upcoming film, which is based on the life of boxer Mary Kom. She was casually dressed and didn't stay for long. In fact, she exited in 30 minutes, though everyone asked her to stay longer. She just wished Arjun, greeted the rest of the crowd and left," says the source.

i dont believe in people sitting at home drowning your sorrows.

the departed one wants their loved ones to be happy and move

on. it was evident from photos that PC is still reeling from

the loss of her papa and attended the party as a gesture of

goodwill from a friend n costar. she was not there because she

was on a high and wanted to parteeeyyyhhh.

^agreed! I dislike the idea of mourning... People should pray and hope that the deceased are in a better place. Mourning won't bring 'em back but your prayers may help them. PC seemed really heartbroken... saw the pics and it was so sad to see her like that... Its sad that she was criticized for attending the party.
