I agree with most of your post ... EXCEPT the bold. The current TRP topper show was supposed to be about a woman following her dreams of studying and becoming a career woman, and her husband supporting her ... I started watching it in the hope it would show how a modern girl balances work and home life in a realistic way and how her husband supports her. It degenerated into a typical saas bahu show where for the last two years the girl has been only trying to prove to her saas that she is an ideal bahu, and thus get permission to study ... while the husband supports her privately but is too meek to stand up to his mother strongly for his wife. So for me, it did not hold to its original premise and I stopped watching it. But it is the current topper ... go figure 😛

If CC also degenerates into the same type of show, of Umaben bullying CC into leaving the house, and Chhanchhan proving that she is ideal bahu and thus staying on, I will probably lose interest. But so far, it does seem to be slightly different ... I agree with ankitamishra's post above that CC is showing how a modern girl can deal with her MIL without breaking into tears at the drop of a hat ... and can show her that new ways are good and should be adopted.

Remember that it is only the first day of CC in her new home, the real story has barely started. On the first day itself, CC has used the rotimaker and internet to solve two problems - I think that is pretty good going. 😃

Being modern does NOT only mean wearing modern clothes and fighting to do so ... that is what all the youngsters seem to think and that is where they are wrong. Being modern means using your intelligence and education in the right way ... and in the context of the show - to look at traditions and customs, see what is right and what is wrong, retain the right ones, and drop the wrong ones. That will be the ideological battle that the makers have promised.

Like the pallu wearing ... CC is wearing the pallu not because she believes in it herself, but because it's the custom in the house, and she has no objection to wearing it. But if it interferes with her work, then she should be allowed to drop it. We've already seen Umaben's hypocritical stance on it - she doesn't believe in it, but Babuji does ... so it doesn't seem to be a custom as such, but only one enforced by Umaben for her own reasons.
If Umaben says CC cannot use modern gadgets in the kitchen to make housework easier, that is wrong, and she should speak up against it.
If CC goes back to work ... which I hope she will, that is where she should drop the pallu, and the saree as well ... because they are unsuitable clothes for her work. If Umaben objects to her working, that is where she should protest.

Show is looking a bit regressive because of UB's character. she is total black. see running a household with old traditions and culture and being strict so that family stays together and follow old societal norms is old fashioned and that is character ideology which is good but stooping to any level to humiliate her bahus and getting pleasure from it is evil. UB in this show is evil.she is not old fashioned but egoistic and want upper hand over her bahus and family. she is same as mil's from other shows.

And yes being modern is not wearing modern clothes or being a rebel. i believe stick to your roots but adapt modern ideas where ever necessary to make life easier to lead.

With out goofing up if the makers show us the ideological battle as you have explained it will be really interesting to watch.at this point all we can say is to hope for the best for sanaya as she is the sole reason we all are watching the show for.

Didn't come on the forum for a long time but since it was weekend and I was browsing, I just looked into this post.I gave up on the show long back but this week we had holidays on the office front and I had ample time on my hands and so I went back and tried to catch up the episodes of CC after marriage and see if the story improved/if I can join the show again. So since the main story after marriage has started, I watched the last 6 episodes in a fast forward manner.Putting my opinion across.

The only problem I have with the show is none of the ideas that the show projected or took up be it Dowry case/computer classes of Purvi/Dog training profession of Chanchan/love story of Mansi and Rughved - has been taken to completion . Don't get me wrong. The show started with the theme of a modern girl who lives by her beliefs and the clash between old and new. But there are so many loopholes in the script till now. First they started with Purvi's shaadi and then the dowry harassment. After the first week, I didn't see purvi's dad at all. Then they showed Purvi starting computer courses. Why couldn't the makers show that Purvi becomes successful in her computer courses and moves on. In the end they got Hitesh back and got her married and the story was left or rather done with in the show. But they could have treated this one story in a more delicate and more mature manner - like what happens when the girls family faces a broken shaadi/what goes on in the boys family/How does the society react/why we should say no to the social evil/How girls can move on in life after such an setback. Nada, Nothing was explored. In the end it was shown that if the boy comes back - the one who left you at the altar without even talking to you, you need to take him back and get married and be happy. Is that the lesson they are sending across to the audience? That was the first story or sub-plot that the makers took up as a clash of the ideologies but I don't see them handling it very good.

Next the dog profession of Chanchan - The promo of Sanaya with dogs was good and I think viewers wanted to see the dogs in the show but apart from few scenes, I don't think they showed CC doing anything as a dog owner/trainer interacting with her customers/trying to do something new in her job. Compare it to the top TRP serial running on the same slot where the lead is a Halwai - you see scenes of him working on making the sweets/in his shop doing sales at least once in 3 days. The dogs were there only for the few scenes and given that CC married in such a less notice, I expected a scene or two from CC's prospective customers about the rescheduling of the training or classes. But now CC is happily back in Sasural and there is no indication that CC ever worked. Shouldn't they kept the working of Chanchan always in the background given that they started off showing a girl who works.

Likewise Mansi - Rughved's love story. Where is that ? You hardly have anything going on there. The love story was there only for the camp and then there is no one scene which showed the lovers meeting/talking on phone. And then suddenly in 1-2 months, you may very well have the shaadi of Mansi-Rughved happening - that would be another conflict between UB and CC(my gut feelings) but where is the connect to the love story ? Is it too hard for the creatives to show a Mansi-Rughved scenes at least once in a week or so, so that the audience can connect to the love story - show a scene where Mansi calls Rughved/talks to CC about his brother/or CC talking to Mansi. Nothing at all. Unless you have your story good and connecting to the audience you can't make them believe that the love story has the strength to fight UB's refusal. And here I believe both the actors Srman and Mansi can act well enough. And now it seems Srman may very well be on his way out if I look at the latest reports of him bagging a big role in Adaalat.

And so is the case of Himanshu and Simple. There is no scenes of both of them. And take the case of other members - be it Rushali/CC's mom/CC's dad - I have not seen any meaningful scenes of them discussing their work/doing their work or you know just about going on in their day to day activities. Just to give an example - In the same PH's earlier show, we used to have Toasty's parents scenes at least once in 3 days discussing something or other that was going on in the household. There is one scene that I really wanted to write down here to show the difference in the writing in both the shows.

- Toasty gets married and on the marriage day when she has entered the house, she has to cook for all the people in the house. She is one who has never cooked too much in her house and so she calls up her mom and asks how much water should she keep for making daal for 7 people and they have a talk. Immediately Toasty's mom figures out that her daughter is cooking/nags her husband and I think she comes to her house and sees Toasty in her wedding dress cooking. The whole conversation that takes place between Toasty and her parents/between Toasty's parents and the Dadaji, the head of the household was very good and this all takes place in 3 episodes. Simple and yet something very real. Here CC's dad and mom know that she has never cooked/she orders roti makers/know of UB's attitude beforehand but all they could do was have a scene of mom/dad/dadi talking and dad calling up which was hardly a 2 min scene. Felt very rushed - Sometimes actions are better than words. Showing something like CC's family coming and talking to her in private would have been much better than just the phone call. I know I wouldn't have been able to hold myself back if my eldest daughter got married in such circumstances.

There are so many sub-plots in the show and the main problem is that the creatives are not tackling it in a mature manner. The writing is something which comes across as very cliched like CC is complete white and UB is complete black, kind of very uni-dimensional. The serial can't go on with the scenes always showing clash between UB and CC - That should be the main story but the creatives should develop the serial so that the other sub plots grow on the audience but the clash between CC and UB remains in the background. Unless that happens all we are going to see is how UB tries to get CC down and scores points and how CC counters them which is something that is not going to be holding the viewer's interest for too long.

I am an avid Indian television serial watcher and had been fan of many serials in the past... What I had seen is that for a serial to strike a chord with audience storyline, script. execution must be good... be it Saas-Bahu soap or a love story...They r the heroes of a show.No matter how popular a particular actor/actress may be they can't drive a show alone...

But this show is en cashing largely on Sanaya's popularity... A popularity can only flock the crowd for some time...If the story can't hold interest crowd will disappear...A show can never be singly handled ...Coordination in a team and teamwork is required for the success of a show...

I am really surprised that this PH done such a good show previously such an innovative one...How can they make a show with so poor storyline and busily en cashing on Sanays's popularity and offscreen fiasco...

Some of the things r really over the top here...for example Ecological wedding. What the heck was that...Umma Ben is shown downtrodden bad...and her ways ...Chanchan is okay but sometimes her actions r not so much justified...
Still I am hoping that they will rectify their mistakes and will do good...The epis r now better...

I agree with u completely the actors having youth fans should always be careful with the show they choose, I also somewhere think sanaya took wrong decision by doing these show it has nothing new the typical saas bahu which v has seen in ekta mata shows.

Actually Saas Bahu serial is not the problem though I find it difficult to see Sanaya in a traditional saree avatar...as in her past shows her wardrobe used to be different...but the main problem is script story and execution... The show has to hold good amount of interest among the viewers...Look at the other Saas Bahu serials which r high in trp...they manage to trigger good amount of interest among the viewers...they have a story to tell...
