Says newcomer Farhan Khan who has moved on post a disappointing exit from his first show, after being blamed for low TRPS

I didn't want to hang around, take the blame and then see the show go off air

When newcomer Farhan Khan signed up for the show Chhan Chhan, he expected it to be his big break. But soon his dreams got shattered, when his lack of on-screen chemistry with co-star Sanaya Irani resulted in dropping TRPs of the show. Soon, there were rumours that the actor would be replaced, which eventually turned out to be true. Currently, Anuj Sachdev plays the role of Manav, who is in love with Chhan Chhan (Sanaya).

Expressing his disappointment on being held responsible for the low ratings of the show, Farhan says, "I was being blamed for the lack of chemistry with Sanaya, though this was my debut and the show did not revolve around me. If Sanaya is a superstar the TRPs should have revolved around her and not the second lead. In this case, I was second lead. As the entire blame was on me, I wanted to leave the show."

Farhan considers that he has made the right choice by quitting the show. "Chhanchhan is the main lead on the show. If the TRPs aren't coming, people shouldn't blame me for that. I'm glad that I took the decision at the right time as I didn't want to hang around, take the blame and then see the show go off air. Some people told me quitting would be a mistake, but I did it whole heartedly and I'm happy with my decision," he says.

When the rumours of his replacement began circulating about two months ago, the debutant did try to talk to the makers. "I asked the channel and production team about the rumours but they sounded confused. They never told me anything. My name was being tainted, so I found it pointless to hang around," says Farhan.

He felt people expected a recurrence of the chemistry Sanaya shared with her co-star Barun Sobti in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (IPKKND). "On TV, once you have an image, it's tough to shed it. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay will always be known as Tulsi and Mihir (their characters Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi). Similarly Sanaya will always be remembered as Khushi (her character in IPKKND). People wanted to see that kind of chemistry, the romance and the love but that wasn't the requirement of this show," says Farhan.
