Indian of the other goes to....

AB jr.

That's proves alot, dosen't it?! Bollywood is BIG! And in 2006 it cashed in some big moolah.

Do you think India is a bollywood obsessed nation? We have movie stars winning Indian of the year, movie stars inaugurating stores, movie stars launching books for kids, movie stars even invited to perform at weddings etc.

So the Q is Are we a Bollywood Obsessed nation? Why, or why not?!

yes, it is either bollywood / cricket.
I have nothing against entertainment industry and I do appreciate the size of it, but it is not even quality entertainment 🤢 and still we are crazy.

During the onset of Iraq war, i was in India. Te major news on Aajtak was "Aishwarys Rai broke her leg in a shooting accident and her boyfriend is taking care of her 🤢 " WTH!!

Right now, even on the IF headlines, look at the news we have:
"Aishwarya Rai offers prayers in Pushkar" 🤔

Great topic, Preeti. Nice to see you in DM. 😊

I agree...Bollywood and Cricket can cover 10 out of a 30 minute news broadcast. Just goes to show how obssessed we are with entertainment.

WHY is this the case? Escape from reality? Lack of interest in the seemingly mundane matters of day-to-day life? 😕

The best thing is, 90% of us are disgusted with such state of affairs...So is it a matter of hypocracy or we behave differently as a group, or is it just that the 10% that feels otherwise about such things, is actually the main contributing factor??? 🤔

So true, all we do is take a movie script twist it to suit indian tastes and re-make it. That line was well said and well thought of ^^.

Hey Mysti di, i used to visit remix section alot, but you know i like .in more :P Finally a known face/id on .com *phew* 😆

I think it is lack of interest in other matters. We plca ebollywood on a higher pedestal that some bomb blast/ national bravery awards. I think people are too stressed to even pay attention to serious news. They just want fun@bollywood!

Whether they would admit it or not, most people suffer from a mild form of Clerambault's syndrome. Not to the point where they believe that someone of a higher social status is in love with them, but definitely to the point where they are fascinating with the person's personal and everyday life. Such actions that are taken everyday by fans of both Hollywood and Bollywood (fixations with the tabloids, keeping up on gossip) can be seen as mild forms of psychotic behavior.

I think so... but there is nothing else to be proud of in India: corrupt politics, crimes and poverty... Bollywood is the shining star with its perfection, but soon or later the booming economy and the strides India is making in becoming a super power will hopefully change this situation.

hello there Puja 😊!

The latter part of your sentence is something Indians can be proud of. Don't you think?
I do realize the filth that politics always brings in to hamper the progress.
I also realize that it may be rather unrealistic to just yet dream of our country as the super power of the future. I also know that India has severe population, poverty, disparity and lack-of-infrastructure-related issues. Yet, it has made an identity for itself in the world map and world politics finally! It is indeed something a current Indian can be proud of. I will not even begin to list the rich historical heritage every Indian should appreciate and feel proud of. Do you agree?

Bollywood really falls short- not only in terms of length of female dresses, but the depth of issues predominantly portrayed!
