Analyzing the Finalists and a Bit More

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum...though I watch the show everyday diligently. And today after seeing the 3 finalists I've finally decided to open up about my views on the finalists.

Ripudaman
Ripu in my belief is an awesome cook and he deserves to win the most from the 3. When the show first began in the second week I told my mom, "You know what? Ripu and Nishaji are going to be in the top 3." Sadly today that statement proved to be 50% incorrect as Nishaji got out. But more on that later. Anyways, from the weeks of viewing Ripu, I've come to the conclusion that this guy is a really great cook. I don't know why people think he's weak (especially the contestants), but he's really strong. If he kept getting safe in the first task then it meant he knew his food and he knew what to do and how to make it that it always impressed the judges. The best part was when he made that pizza which the judges finished. That tells you that this guy is a really strong cook. He's also pretty open to criticism, competitive, but not egoistic. One of my friends said that she thought he was very egotistic, but I've never really seen that in him. Yes he's competitive. And everyone is. That's the only way you're going to win the show. He's open to criticism. He works well with pairs. He listens to others. And yes sometimes he praises himself. But come on, who doesn't? In my opinion, he's real Masterchef material.

Navneet
Navneet is an okayish cook and not such a good person. I wouldn't mind if he came second. But only second! When I first saw him I thought this guy would be passionate and would really care about making sure his food was always top notch, especially given that he had tried 3 times now. But within the first few weeks I realized how egotistical, closed minded, and what a _________ he was. (You fill in the blanks with your choice of wording.) He's always doing me-me-me. He always thinks he's right and doesn't take it nicely when someone else tells him to do something. When he's captain he's all about bossing others around or about standing back and letting others do the work. When others say that he's weak, he's quick to point out that he came here 3 times, while others only came here once. He doesn't take criticism nicely or he doesn't like hearing good things about others' food. But when he wins he feels he deserves it. His food (obviously I haven't tasted it) but it sounds like it's 50-50. Sometimes it's really good (and it looks good) and other times I'm surprised that someone like him made it through.

Doyal
Oh the less I say about her the better! Else I'm going to start filling in the blanks with my own words and people will say I'm abusing and will report my post and I'll get a warning and...anyways I'm ranting. So let me analyze this person to the best of my ability. Doyal, I felt, never deserved to get this far. For her it's always about riding her way to the front on other people's shoulders, especially when working in pairs or groups. For example, in the dhaba task, she was seen the least, but when it came to pulling people in to eat, she was all of a sudden out there. Or how about the task in Gujarat? She and Yasmin were paired together and their first task was to prepare the best Dal Dhokli. What does she do? She goes ahead and starts preparing for the second task and leaves the Dal Dhokli all on Yasmin. That way if they lose she can blame Yasmin. But in the last 5 minutes she suddenly decides to help make the Dal Dhokli and starts telling Yasmin what to do as if she had been making it all along. It's her way of making sure that if they win she can take all the credit. But the limit was last week when the first task was given to the 4 finalists of making a classical dish. Since she didn't know how to make the dish at all, she decided to copy Nishaji! So whatever Nishaji took from the pantry, she took. Whatever Nishaji cooked, she cooked. And however Nishaji did her plating, she did it. COPYCAT!!! And then again this week she does the same thing. First of all, she fails to recognize 2 out of 6 things. That's 33% of the dish. So what does she do? She sees what Nishaji and Ripu are taking from the pantry and takes the same things. I'm surprised she didn't turn around and see what the two were cooking and cook the same things. After all she had done that the week before!!! And now she's in the finals! All I can pray is that she quickly loses and the fight is left between Ripu and Navneet.

Nishaji
I want to make a special analysis of Nishaji here. Nishaji in my opinion was the nicest, most competitive, but not egotistical, and best cook of the show. She has experience and it shows. Yes, she's competitive, but then like I said above, that's how you're going to win. Nishaji may appear egotistical at times, but I really think it was more of a confidence in herself and her dishes and her cooking versus ego. She's open to criticism and, unlike Navneet, allows others to tell her what to do and is always lending a helping hand. This shows that she cares for others, but also has confidence. Navneet, on the other hand, only really cares about himself and that makes him egotistical. Anyways, back to Nishaji. So, in my belief, she really deserved to be in the top 3 and even deserved to win Masterchef, but unfortunately she's out.

Who Could Win?
The biggest question of the show. Who could win? Well looking at the basic route of most reality shows and looking at the history of Masterchef India, I have a feeling that either Ripu or Navneet will win. Since in the past 2 seasons a female has always won, it's time for a male to win this show. And unlike in the past 2 seasons, this time there are 2 male finalists and at least one of them deserves to win *cough, cough, Ripu, cough, cough*. Now evaluating how the judges have been acting and based on how the winner will be chosen, Ripu has the most chances of winning. Most people don't like Doyal, especially given that she's a cheater and copycat. Even if Navneet gets a lot of votes, I have a feeling that unless the other 2 contestants call him weak he won't cook to well. (Isn't it weird that Navneet only really cooks well when others either call him weak or imply that he's weak?) Now Ripu is both a good cook and seems to have a strong fan following. At least if we look at this forum and believe the articles. (I know that I'm a fan of his.) Again I'm going off track. So yeah, given that Ripu cooks well and has a fan following, I have a feeling that he might win the show. And if he doesn't then the show is rigged!

Actors' Support
And now I come to the last part of my analysis. As posted in an article here, Shabbir Ahluwalia will be supporting Navneet, Gurmeet Choudhary will be supporting Ripu, and Pratyusha Bannerjee will be supporting Doyal. All of these actors have fan followings of their own and the fans of these actors are bound to vote for the contestant that that actor is supporting. Meaning Shabbir fans will vote for Navneet, Gurmeet fans will vote for Ripu, and Pratyusha fans will vote for Doyal. Given this, and my above analysis on who could win the show, I once again feel that it might be Ripu, though in this race, Doyal might just pull ahead as well.

Why you may ask? Well (again based on India Forums fan following) Gurmeet has a huge fan following. And especially given that he won JDJ (which is supposed to be based on voters), it goes to show that he has a really huge fan following which will make sure he wins. And if Ripu wins, he wins, since he's supporting Ripu. Shabbir has a huge fan following as well, especially after Dutta Bhau (Laagi Tujhse Lagan). But here his fan following may not be too helpful as many people have a negative perception of Navneet. And finally we come to Pratyusha. BV fans still want her back and are doing everything they can to bring her back. So given that she has so many fans, her fan following may vote for Doyal, irrespective of how much they actually know about Doyal. This, combined with the fact that most Masterchef viewers won't vote for her, I have a feeling that she could pull up, but whether she wins or not remains to be seen.

Final Verdict
So what's the final verdict? Well I'm still undecided. Though I know or at least have a feeling that it'll be a male winner this year, given that Doyal has basically cheated her way through, she may be declared winner. Though if the show isn't rigged Ripu really deserves to win. So my final verdict: Ripu should win, but Doyal might if there is any rigging done.

After reading that lengthy analysis, if any of you are still around, do feel free to post your comments and please don't just post that you agree. 😆 That is my one pet peeve. I go ahead and post a long review or analysis on something and I get 10 posts of "I agree" or "I disagree" and that's it. 😆

Nice & relevant post.

Though if one sees how much effort has been put into getting Ninny into the finals, he will win. Actually have stopped watching the farce that this show has become.

After so much effort to eliminate so many ppl including Nisha aunty to bring pink panther and khujili rani to finals I doubt if Ripu will win if they to follow trend of ladies winning then khujili rani else pink panther

I must say. You guys have some very weird names for the 3. 😆 Just be careful it doesn't border on abuse because then the DT in me kicks in and I really don't want to do that. 😉

Firstly welcome to this forum, Shreya.
I agree with each & every word written by you.
Yes Ripu has the most of winning the competition, but we cannot say who comes as a dark horse in the race.

Thanks smiley4567. That's true. Anyone can come across as a dark horse.
