Chapter 27: REMORSE

3 MONTHS AFTER THE INCIDENT

Uday was sitting in his office. He was checking his mail and talking to some business client simultaneously. 3 months passed since that day he was left free from court. He was now a survivor of the harsh politics played by the royals. His business thrived, he was happy. But he missed one person in his life- manyta, his first and last love.

After a week since the incident in the court took place, he started to send roses and candies to manyta, they were all returned back to him." she would be angry, but give her a chance to cool" was his motto.

3 months passes, yet all his gifts were returned to him unacknowledged. He did not mind. Patience was one of his finest virtues.

His thoughts were interrupted when his office phone buzzed. It was his PA

"sir, miss manyta wants to meet you, but she does not have an appointment, should I ask her to take one"

U: what? You mean princess manyta of devgarh.😲

Pa: yes, sir the very same.

U: send her in😃

PA: but sir, what about the appointment.

U: cant you understand what I said, just send her in, ok

PA: yes sir

Uday's PA cut the call and looked at manyta standing in front of her.

PA: you can go and see him. his cabin is ….

M: I know. She said rudely

The PA thought " now what does she wants again, hope uday sir does not make the same mistake with her again"

Uday was thrilled. W-O-W. Finally manyta is here to meet him. so now did she finally acknowledge her feeling towards him. He felt so excited. He combed his hair and adjusted his suit.

Finally his wait was over. Manyta entered his cabin with grace. But there was no spark in her eyes or a smile on her lips. "oh, so she was here for something else" thought uday, and he smirked. A smile appeared on his face that would have made any girl, die for him.

He got up from his seat and extended his hand towards manyta. She ignored it...

U: take a seat.

Manyta looked at him for a second, and he saw raw hatred in that chocolate coloured eyes, he ignored it. she then sat on a chair far from uday

U: so princess, what brings you here?😃

He said flashing his sweetest smile, and looking at her face. Even today, he loved the girl in front of him, everything about her, both physical and emotional tied him to her. He wanted to stroke her face, hold her in her hands

Manyta cut him from his daydream. Her voice had a tone of steel in it.

M: mister😡…

What happened to" uday" he thought

U:eh…

Manyta chose to ignore him, she continued

M: I just came to tell you that just stop sending me flowers and candies like I am a kindergarten child. I know why are you doing all this, but let me remind you, iam not at all interested in anything ok. Just let me go, isn't it enough for you to spoil my life, now what do you further want?

She said questioningly

Uday moved closer to her and she moved backward, he hovered like a vulture over her chair. She felt disoriented. Ergh!! Why did he have to come so close to her, why does she have butterflies in her stomach? Concentrate manyta, he is your enemy

Uday came even closer to her, her hot breath fell on her face, her cheeks reddened

U: do you really want me out of your life, he purred

Manyta closed her eyes, and her hands were clenched in form of fists. She forced herself to get control. There were more serious matters that needed to be sorted.

Uday's palms were stroking her cheeks

U: I like the colour of your skin, it can be really tempting.

Manyta opened her eyes, the fury in her eyes back to maximum. She pushed uday away from her and stood up. Uday looked at her with a sort of admiration

"my tigress" he thought.😆

He started to move towards her,

"stay where you are, uday. I am damn serious. Just stay away from my life ok, I don't want any of your gifts or anything that has to do anything with you. I HATE YOU. I hate you," she couldn't get herself to repeat it, like she never meant it. But images of being publically humiliated and undergoing punishment for a mistake she did not commit made her firm. Here was a man she had once loved. But no, she hated him, hated him because his hands were stained with the blood of the innocent.

U: why manyta? His tone was suddenly business type

M: don't you know why, mr. shark. The terrible killer, who killed innocents for money, or was it for some sadistic pleasure. You are a sadist, your sick. Yuck.

U: manyta.😡 Uday warned.

M: what did I say that irritated you? Was I not right, you may have reasons to do so? But why rohan, why rajat? Why all those innocent people? What about that uday?

U: rohan deserved what he got, and rajjat it was self preservation, he threatened to expose me, and I was forced to eliminate the risk

M: risk? You are not a human uday, you are a demon.

U: enough manyta, I said enough😡

M: you need some psychiatrist help uday, you really need it

Uday came close to her and twisted her hand, it pained her,"ahhh🤢" she screamed

U: are you saying iam mad? Ehh? You bit**😡

M: leave me uday. Please.

U: no, you ******* don't you dare talk to me like that. His hands flew to her throat and she was suffocating.

The noise in the office brought in the employees in the room, the security separated uday from hurting manyta more. Uday was really mad…

Manyta left the room andas she left she looked at him, anger replaced by some unknown expression

Uday sat at his desk, his hands rested on his head, his anger still boiling, the employees left soon as they did not want to be at the receiving end when he erupted.

2 hours later

Uday had calmed a bit, he called his PA to his office, he did see fear in her eyes , so he softened his expression and asked her

U: veena, tell me what ismy most negative character?

Veena hesitated.

U: tell me, I wont eat you.

V: sir, i… I think its… your anger

U: explain?

V: sir you get angry very soon, and in your anger you do things which you later regret.

" very correct, I regret for being mad at princess"thought uday.

U; thanks veena, he smiled, you can now leave

It was late night, uday was having his third peg. As alcohol loosened his system, he remembered manythings

"You are a sadist, your sick"

"You are not a human uday, you are a demon"

"you need some psychiatrist help uday, you really need it"

"sir, i… I think its… your anger"

A lot of voices spoke simultaneously in his head. He shoock his head in an attempt to clear it, but it remained.

"was he a monster"

"no he killed only those who deserved it"

" but what about their families"

"why should he care about it"

"was his anger his bad point?"

" everyone had their own good and bad points"

"did he need help?"

"was he mad eh"

His mind was battling between good and bad, and somewhere between he fell asleep.

He was running behind a familiar figure, he called loudly" ma, stop" the figure continued to walk.

He finally overtook that figure" ma, stop na, it me uday"

" you are no son of mine"

"ma" he said shocked

"my son was not a killer, what about you"

And then her mother took a knife and plunged it into her womb

"I am a sinner as I gave birth to you"

She fell to the ground and in seconds died..

"MAAA"

Uday screamed and woke up. It was 4 in the morning, but the dream was so vivid…
