Gautam's father asks Prabhunath to help Neelu in his business by sponsoring him with 10 lakhs not as a dowry but as a help from a relative apart from the usual dowry items like TV, refrigerator etc. This irks Poonam who runs inside. Kiran goes and comforts her. Poonam questions the social norm of giving dowry and the fact that every person has to fall prey to it however educated or highly placed they may be.
Prabhunath comes inside the room and assures that he will find a probable solution to the problem. Kiran suggests they talk to Gautam but Prabhunath rules the option out as he thinks it will create a lot of commotion in Gautam's house. He tells that he will somehow arrange for the money.
Gautam greets his parents with displeasure when his parents come back home because he is aware of the dowry demand. He says being a teacher his profession demands him to curb such social diseases and not fuel them in any way whatsoever. His father argues that they are not doing something unique and that this has been the norm for centuries. That is why, he thinks , people rejoice when a boy is born to them but become sad and depressed when a girl gets born.
Gautam says that this is the attitude of uneducated rustics. His father pretends to be terribly upset by the comment and pours kerosene on himself and pretends to set himself to fire. Neelu controls the situation and later asks Gautam how he got to know about the demand as he had earlier clarified that Poonam did not tell him. Gautam says that he had gone to gift Poonam something and also apologise for the previous day.
Aakash and Suman meet at the temple where Aakash thanks the latter for not telling anything to Poonam.He offers himself as a brother to her and Suman ties him a rakhi from the temple.
Prabhunath argues in favour of giving the money and taking some loans for that matter whereas Poonam counter argues against it. Kiran justifies her fight by saying that it is her love for her parents.
Aakash and Suman arrive at Poonam's residence where he recognises Kiran as the one seen on laptop.
Gautam arrives with his parents at that instant and says that he has to say something to them.
