Chapter 2 : Ava.. The flickering fairy lights surrounding the diminutive, narrow, neighborhood of the poor side of Manhattan lit up the melancholic streets. Chucking bottles of beer at each other, the old men sighed and spoke about their tiring, hectic day.
Their respective wives feeding them with whatever food they earned, the men cracked hysterical, jokes about the haunts of men in the 21st century. The corporate jungle that everybody sees as their dream destination, in reality, becomes their worst nightmare.
The rough, cold breeze rushing up their skin alerted them that there was trouble. Gearing up their rifles and hiding their wives back into their sanctuaries, they looked around for any sort of intrusion.
Hearing soft, melodious footsteps, the rugged men turned around cautiously glancing at their supposed opponent.
Gasping loudly at the sight of their intruder, they ran their eyes over her figure hungrily.
They took out her flawless complexion. Even in the dark, cloudy weather, her milky white skin glowed to full radiance. Her royal blue eyes which reflected a vision of the beautiful ocean glared at them prudently. Her full, pale pink lips twisted in recognition at the stares she was getting. Glancing at the drunk, obese men in front of her, she stared into their eyes warily reading up every single thought and memory stored in their heads.
Understanding that they weren't a threat, she pulled some of her cloth material off her long white dress and tied her hair up in a messy bun allowing a few strands to highlight her face.
Sighing carefully, she walked closer to them and bowed her head in a greeting. As if understanding the threat that she was, the men fell to the floor and bent their heads to her in response.
Smiling thoughtfully at them, she asked "If it is okay, can I please spend the night here? You see it's almost nightfall and I don't really know my way around here…."
Nodding reluctantly at their guest, an old, bearded man walked up to her and said "You are most welcome to stay with us but if you would kindly tell us your name Madam?"
Smiling slightly, she nodded her head and whispered.
"Ava…..Ava Valeska….."

The bright, strong rays of the early morning sun creeped into the folded binds of the window sills of the city of epitome.
Groaning in frustration at the disturbance of his precious slumber, Finn pulled himself up from the thick blue covers of his bed.
Combing his brown strands of his forehead, he ran a hand through his brunette wavy streaks of messy hair.
Wiping his tired face with his hands, he slowly got up and stretched his tense muscles. Twisting his head in laziness, he walked over to the large glass window and opened the binds. Breathing in the cold, fresh air of the morning, he smiled tiredly and waved at his 80 year old neighbor.
Mrs. Anderson was a widowed, 80 year old botanist living alone in Manhattan with her golden retriever, Cookie. She waved cheerfully back at the very melancholic Finn Walker while Cookie barked loudly. Mrs. Anderson had lived a long happy life; she had seen the world through a pink glass as well as a clear picture. She knew of the bumpy roads life threw at you.
She just hoped that the young man in front of her earned every bit of happiness and love he deserved.
Shouting out a loud early morning greeting at her, he walked back into his bedroom while allowing the fresh air to seep in through the windows.
Dragging himself over to the vast bathroom, Finn showered and got ready for his daily routine of running in the morning.
Changing into black track pants and a blue t shirt, he tied on his trainers and ran down the building.
Running laps of 500 meters around the neighborhood, he propped himself down on a bench near the park. Grinning at the sound of little children laughing, he laid his head back on the bench seat allowing him to catch up on his much needed supply of oxygen.
Concentration on the world around, he heard children laughing and vehicles honking at each other. Grinning amusedly at the conversations of the gutsy teenage girls drooling over him, he chuckled slightly and closed his eyes once more.
Suddenly his hearing shifted to that of a bird singing. The melody was calm and soothing to his stressed out sound box. The light bird song cleared his thoughts yet kept him at bay. Suddenly getting up on the bench, his instincts alerted him to look left.
He turned his head around and saw a blind woman trying to cross the road. Not realizing that there was an SUV in the background about to crash into her, Finn got up and rushed across the park, ignoring the strange looks from people.
He ran over to the old woman and dragged her off the road, while almost getting run over himself.
Helping the old woman up, she placed her hands on his face and patted his cheeks and said "Thank you Son, you saved my life today. May God bless you…"
Smiling down slightly, he helped the old woman to cross the road. Grabbing his bottle from his backpack, he gulped down water and closed his eyes at the powerful sun rays.
Pulling over his grey hoodie, he turned around and greeted a couple of business associates and walked away.
Glancing over at his current view, he looked at the little kids playing and the scared parents watching over them like hawks. Smiling amusedly, he bent down and played with the little brown puppies that were clearly enjoying the attention they were getting.
Shaking his head, he got up and jogged over to the bridge. The lake was strangely calm today; it was as if it was preparing for something vast. The beautiful white swans swam across the lake to the old men who were feeding them food. Chuckling at their excitement, the kids joined them as well.
The calm before a storm…..
Raising his head up cautiously, he felt his body react to something strange. He slowly turned around only to crash into a petit, soft body.
Helping her up from the collision, he stared at her shocked.
He was man after all. He couldn't resist looking at a beautiful woman who fell directly into his arms.
Staring at the raw beauty in front of him, he looked into her blue eyes which resembled The Sea of Crete. A Stunning royal blue, inviting him to her alluring aura. Her ridiculously natural scent evoking unknown emotions in him which he himself didn't know existed. Those rosy, pearl like cheeks which smiled up at him in recognition.
Smiling at her in an apology, he watched her nod her head in acceptance and turn around slowly, walking away. Reaching the end of the bridge, she turned her head around and smiled up at him warmly filling his senses with strange reactions.
Waving a good bye, he watched her walk away slowly. Raising his eyebrows at the old couple smiling teasingly at him, Finn Walker rushed over the bridge, behind her….
