When someone's opinions are reprehensible, they'll get called out regardless of their religion. Kangana has faced the heat many times despite belonging to a certain religion, so why not Rahman ?

Dear, there was a reason why I didn't use the word "religion" in my post but "(for whatever reason)". It's very obvious that the musician said things in a way to rightly get criticised. However, he doesn't deserve hate, just reproach.

Kind of feel like this interview was done for attention. I believe Mr. Rehman to be the last person who should complain about not getting work. The industry is evolving and lots of other talents are also replaced by new ones not because they are not talented anymore but what they offered once upon a time doesn’t work anymore. Also if he had worked in Chaava he has no right to criticize it because why didn’t he refuse the work when offered if he really felt the film is propaganda?? That only makes him hypocritical.

He could have expressed his opinion on the overall political climate in India without playing the victim. Whatever my view are on Indian politics I don’t believe Rehman is not getting work due to his religion.

The fact is A.R.Rahman must be charging lot of money and other music directors might be charging lesser than him that's why he is not getting more work that he is probably expecting to get. If he felt Chhava is anti-muslim movie just because the villain was a Muslim he should have refused to give music for the movie. I will still repeat Aurangzeb is badnaam for all the kaands he did, not because of his religion. People who love playing the victim card refuse to accept this.

Exactly. People who have studied Indian history are well aware of how much of a cruel ruler Aurangzeb was. Heck, he jailed his own father. Many of the Mughals were oppressive. It has nothing to do with a certain "factor" and everything to do with their individual personalities. People refuse to accept this without indulging in a debate about the current political climate in India. Ghoom firke baat wahi pe aake atak jaati hai.

His music has not been upto the mark in the recent years. There are producers who are willing to produce for lesser pay and deliver better work.

It must be convenient, considering he gets paid to compose the music for the film—which, frankly, he botches up—and then also gets to critique the very same film. Heads I win, tails I win.

What exactly is divisive about Chhava movie? Not hiding Aurangzeb's cruelty? Or not decorating the atrocities committed by Mughals?

He seems to be in denial about the fact that his music is not as good anymore. Badmouthing those who loved and cherished him. Shame shame!!
