Firstly..some home truths...I personally was not a very big fan of current hindi tv shows and spent most of my time watching english television serials on my laptop...indian television used to be all about quality some years back (serials like sarabhai vs sarabhai, siddhant, banegi apni baat to name a few)...however with the arrival of the never ending saas bahu sagas and reality tv...television of the yesteryears lost its edge...to confess...i did not even see Qubool Hai from the start (its 1st epi aired on my birthday😃) thinking its just another one added to the already rising pile of lacklustre television entertainment...the only thing abt QH that i knew was that KSG was the lead...

I started watching Qubool Hai from the episode post the day when Dilshaad was shot...Asad was told by his mother that she brought Mariam home and not Zoya...at that point of time I had no clue who either of them was...but i still kept watching...KSG as Asad emoted like no other..watching him bash himself up for wrongly hurting a girl was top notch...Asad had wrongly hurt Zoya...both physically and emotionally...

He went to apologize...he entered this room and there sat a girl wearing an uber cool white shirt and denims...my first thought was...is she the lead (i had not seen her face yet)...but having your female lead wearing clothes that don't make u wish u had no eyes was a welcome surprise...he called her Ms.Farooqi (hein???)..she did'nt reply..he called out again, this time Zoya..she did not respond...he mustered up all his courage and placed a hand on her shoulder and she turned!!!

Finally finally finally...a female lead with as powerful a screen presence as KSG...extremely gorgeous was all i could think...she was in pain because she was insulted...(it was shown he had slapped her and insulted her about her parents)..and She asked 'Aap yahan kya kar rahe hain Mr.Khan--another hein?? (the leads calling each other by their surname and not making it sound stupid or forced...commendable)..

She delivered the pain without losing any dignity whatsoever...she asked him to leave..he left..but not before coming back once more only to find her crying like a baby😭...he was crying too..only the tears did not show...

I thought are they going to resolve this today or will it stretch into months as in the other love stories...But i had not realized until then..Asad and Zoya's love story was and is like no other...she sat on a bench in the garden of that beautifully built, elagant and understated Khan Villa (I later discovered Mr.Khan is an architect and he owns a construction firm...superb touch there)...Mr.Khan as she called him came to her with coffee...apologized so earnestly..looking defeated because he knew what he did to her did not comply with his code of ethics...he was wrong..and he acknowledged it...I thought this girl won't forgive him and we have another love hate relationship here...but she took the coffee and gave him a million dollar dimpled smile and forgiveness in return; however not before giving him a piece of her mind...she then poured her heart out to him and tried to make him pour out his own...but Mr.Khan shut himself like a closet and left..she drank the coffee (black and bitter..like him she thought)..but drank it nevertheless...because Mr.Khan had done it for her

This was to be a start to innumerable moonlit nights for Mr.Khan and Ms.Farooqi..talking about their innermost fears and desires...unknowingly healing each other and eventually finding love...the journey from Mr.Khan and Ms.Farooqi to Asad and Zoya has been long and treacherous...they have not really gone apart and never really come together...they use their eyes to convey everything under the sun...they pester each other to be out with their feelings but they don't trust themselves enough...they have healed each other so beautifully...but is their love good enough to wipe out their insecurity of losing the people they love..they are as different as chalk and cheese but their hearts beat on the same rhythm---Mitwa...they talk in Hinglish..they don't mouth their dialogues after rote learning..they have conversations...they are natural..and fit with each other like a hand fits in a glove...Asad and Zoya may be two mature adults in the real world..but their love is all innocence...that's the glory of first love...

For me, 25 minutes of watching that episode had me convinced that we had a winner on our hands...not because QH is a highly presentable and richly portrayed serial...not because it had two super good looking leads (though i admit that is a huge plus)...but because it had a love story that had no ulterior motive to it..it had two realistic intelligent flawed broken people trying to mend each other...it was just what it was...love..purely and only love...Asad and Zoya are not marrying each other for money, for family, for revenge or for any other stupid reason...they are with each other, for each other...only and only and only...because of each other!!!

Asad and Zoya---a love story like no other!

Dude, this was a beautifully written post, and may I just say, Welcome to the madness. The only reason I hate Qubool Hai is that I am sooo addicted to it that I ignore everything else (not good) 😉 I've never been so addicted except for DMG which again was because of the beautiful manner KSG portrayed the role of Armaan. But, honestly, he has surpassed all of my expectations in doing this character especially the Urdu speaking part. We all know he can act but we also know that he had little to no knowledge of Urdu (several examples are given in DMG). Keeping that in mind, he has done a wonderful job making the character believable. I honestly did not think Surbhi was that great looking in the beginning but the more I watch the show, the prettier she gets in my eyes. I think in part coz she makes the character believable and real, and in part, they have kept her makeup lighter as the episodes go by which definitely suits her.

All in all,I am in complete agreement with your post, and lets hope the love story continues to be one of a kind.

You know i really didn't watch Indian Shows anymore either. It was all typical rona dhona. I used to only watch English shows. But i swear this show is so freakin Brilliant. I am freakin obsessed with it. When my sister told me to watch it i was like i will give it a try but i am not gonna like it i bet. But when i started watching it in february i watched the whole episodes in just 2 days and i saw AsYa scenes over and over again. 😆 Its just freakin brilliant. Both Surbhi and Karan and the whole team has done an amazing job. And thanks to Gul for giving us this shows. I haven't been obsessed with a show this much in ages.

Btw welcome to The forum. 😆

Great post, very beautifully written!

I too only started to watch QH in Feb! I started from the beginning and only caught up last month! I had no intention of watching QH coz I had been addicted to the 4 Lions previous hit show! I was afraid to get hooked again. Once bitten twice shy as they say! IPK was my first Indian TV show as I am not Indian and I live in the west. I have been into Bollywood on and off but never knew a thing RE Indian TV. I have to say 4 Lions gave me a great experience of it, and they continue to do so with QH!

QH has exceeded my expectations and I am very thrilled with the way the show has progressed and character and story development etc. Gul and this PH are kings of romance and creating memorable couples. They are good at getting people to care very deeply for the characters they create and becoming emotionally invested in them and their story!! A talent that a lot of show makers lack!

I am enjoying this ride with Asad and Zoya just like I enjoyed my previous journey with Khushi and Arnav! I hope this journey is as rewarding.

I hope to watch QH for much longer and continue to fall in love with ASYA and their unique love!
